In very important Louis Theroux news — i.e. the only news that matters — the documentary king is releasing his first podcast and it’s out bloody soon. We are saved from lockdown boredom. Hallelujah.

The podcast is called Grounded With Louis Theroux and will feature the Weird Weekends host interviewing a series of high-profile guests in hour-long episodes. The first episode drops on 27 April, which is only one week away. Hell yes.

Despite Louis being a BAFTA winner and celebrated documentarian (and low-key thottie) for the past few decades, who has created some truly polarising TV shows like The Most Hated Family In America, this is his first venture into the magical world of podcasts.

“Making a podcast and radio series is very different to my usual way of working. And for that reason, I’ve found it very fun and refreshing,” Louis said about the podcast-making process. “It’s been a chance to speak to people I admire and have in depth conversations with them, about their lives, their careers, and their most intimate feelings.”

The first Grounded interview is with fellow documentary host, Jon Ronson, and the two discuss their experiences in coronavirus lockdown, along with their shared history of filmmaking. Other interviewees in future episodes include Lenny Henry, Boy George and Miriam Margolyes.

A two-minute introduction to the series is already available on BBC Sounds and it doesn’t disappoint. “One two, one two,” Louis jokes before starting the episode. “I’ve assembled a series of interviews from my own home. For some episodes I may even be in my pyjamas.”

Same, Louis. Same. This podcast is going to be a total iso mood.
