Martha From ‘MAFS’ Has Slammed A Troll For Body Shaming Her
Martha Kalifatidis was one of the stand-out stars from last year’s season of Married At First Sight and has embraced the good and the bad that has come with it.
Whether she’s not giving a shit that people call her a “Kmart Kim Kardashian” or she’s taking to her YouTube channel to spill the tea on her life (remember last year’s Logies saga?!), Martha is unashamedly herself. Let’s be real, the 2020 series of Married At First Sight proved that this year’s cast could never live up to the 2019 MAFS crew.
While we’re all in lockdown and learning to live through a pandemic, things are changing in everyone’s lives – from the everyday basics that we took for granted, to learning how to shift into a work-life balance from home.
Some people are out of jobs, some are down to part-time hours, some studies and degrees have had to be postponed, some people have learned how to cook, some people may have put on or lost weight, some have developed a new tendency to live through their Sims – regardless, there is no wrong or right way to approach a global pandemic and we’re all learning as we go.
Which brings us back to Martha, who brilliantly shut down an Instagram troll in a post about body positivity.
Martha said that a few weeks earlier someone posted the word “chubby” on her Instagram and she struggled to shake it off, saying it led to two weeks of “stress, self-hatred, and unhappiness.”
Martha then uploaded a selfie, urging people not to fall into a pit of self-loathing while we’re living through the pandemic.
“Here’s a ‘Fuck You’ to that comment. A photo of me today, unfiltered, unedited, and a few kilos heavier,” Martha captioned the photo. “My message to you, and the purpose of this post, is that if you’re feeling bad about the snacks you’ve eaten, the workouts you haven’t done and the number on the scale… self-loathing won’t fix shit, trust me!”
Amen, sister.
