God, we love a Magnum.

Now that December has arrived and it’s officially summer, I know that you’re getting ready to eat a lot of ice cream. As a result, I thought that I’d help you out with your choices by ranking the superior ice cream that you can find at your local corner store, aka the Magnum flavours.

Magnums are incredible. They are so irresistibly creamy on the inside and coated with a hard, thin chocolate outer-layer; every single bite is perfection. But, when it comes to flavours, there are some hits and some misses. The subject of which Magnum reigned supreme came up in our office this week, and it turns out that people have very strong opinions over the correct ranking order.

We simply must rank the Magnum flavours, once and for all. Now, for the purposes of this article, I want to rank the flavours that never leave the shelves. So, as a result, I will not rank the Luxe flavour range, even though they’re all pretty solid. Anyway, let’s break it down, shall we?

#9. White

Magnum

Yeah, look. White chocolate can either be really good or really bad. In the case of Cadbury’s Caramilk and Lindt’s chocolate balls, white chocolate is good. But, when it comes to Magnums, the white chocolate crisp outer layer doesn’t really translate to the Magnum goodness we’ve all come to love.

So, sorry to this Magnum, but this is a miss from us.

#8. Hazelnut Salted Vanilla

Magnum

Launched as one of Magnum’s The Fashion Collection, there isn’t anything wrong with this flavour at all. In fact, it’s perfectly lovely.

It’s sweet and it’s nice to taste a bit of hazelnut in the realm of ice creamery. The reason why it’s so low? Well, ultimately when it comes to vanilla ice cream, coated in chocolate and nuts, it’s hard to go past the almond flavour of Magnum. There’s just no reason to eat anything else!

#7. Raspberry Chocolate Truffle

Magnum

Similar to the hazelnut salted vanilla flavour, raspberry chocolate truffle is also part of Magnum’s Fashion Collection.

While the combination of the raspberry and chocolate is good, this flavour is so bold, it borders on being too bold. So, if you’re craving something super-duper sweet, this is a go-er, but otherwise, you might not be able to finish this dessert!

#6. Honeycomb Crunch

Magnum

In a similar fashion to the raspberry chocolate truffle, this flavour is also extremely intense.

If your favourite candy is a Violet Crumble or a Crunchie, then yeah, sure, you’ll probably love this flavour. But, for someone that’s just hoping to chomp on something to cool down on a hot summer’s day, this will be a little bit too sweet. Maybe, buy a bottle of water to wash this one down.

#5. Peppermint

Magnum

Okay, now we’re talking.

If you, like me, love a choc-mint flavour combo, you’ll love this. Just like the Mint Slice biscuit, this flavour is God-tier when it comes to the chocolate and peppermint flavour collab. Plus, the freshness of the peppermint is perfect to help you cool down during a 35-degree day. I.e. it’s going to be perfect to survive this summer.

#4. White Almond

Magnum

Now, I know that I ranked the white chocolate flavour quite low on this list, so hear me out.

The inclusion of the almond-chips to the white chocolate makes this Magnum approximately 9999% better than the standard white choccy flavour. The crunchy almonds on the chocolate outer-rim make for a classic Magnum experience, and for that, we stan.

#3. Classic

I mean, Classic was always going to be high. Where would Magnum be without the OG? To this day, a Classic goes down an absolute treat, and I won’t hear a bar of anyone who rejects this sentiment.

We’re never disappointed when we gulp down one of these bad boys. But, are they the best flavour? Not quite, but close.

#2. Almond

I’ve already ranted in this article about how almonds make a Magnum that much better. To me, the almond flavour is the quintessential Magnum. The almonds give the dessert that extra crunch, making every bite perfection. But, why doesn’t it take out the number one spot? You’ll just have to keep reading to find out.

#1. Ego (Double Caramel)

I mean, could we really put anything else first? The Magnum Ego is literal dessert perfection. Literally, I rate it higher than any dessert at most gourmet restaurants.

Warning though, this dessert is so, so, so, so sweet. It’s literally a normal Magnum, dipped in a layer of caramel, then dipped in another layer of chocolate. But, when you’ve got a sweet tooth, I can’t even begin to imagine eating anything else.

There you have it! Speaking of sweet things, have you checked out our Tim Tams ranking?
