Everything We Know About The Cheating Scandal Set To Rock ‘Married At First Sight’
Just when Married at First Sight viewers were still coming to terms with controversial groom Andrew Davis quitting the experiment, it looks like there’s even more drama on the way.
MAFS is about to be rocked by yet another cheating scandal. This is not a drill. And this time the affair involves none of the original contestants — that’s right, this season’s intruders are messy!
So what the hell is going on and who is involved?
As is tradition on this show, a few weeks into the experiment some new contestants have gotten hitched and joined the experiment. This week introduced intruder couples Kate Laidlaw and Matt Ridley; Carolina Santos and Dion Giannarelli; and Jess Seracino and Daniel Holmes. None of the new couples got off to a great start, but before they even arrived a rumour was already doing the rounds that there was some parter-swapping to come between two of the intruders.
The first couple implicated in the cheating scandal is Jess and Dan.

This Jess and Dan…
Retail assistant Jess and personal trainer Dan got off to a terrible start. They had an argument on their wedding day over Dan’s reaction to Jess talking about plans for her “real wedding”, which led to Dan storming off. After hearing Jess’ explanation that their wedding technically is fake, Dan was left looking rather sheepish.
The vibes got even worse on their honeymoon as Jess referred to Dan as “little bitch” because he refused to answer her honesty box question, where she asked what he would change about her physical appearance. Their fight continued throughout their first dinner party, as a petty argument over the air-conditioner set the tone for the evening.
Jess and Dan did not interact for most of the dinner party, but one person who Dan did have a rather lengthy convo with was fellow intruder Carolina, which takes us to our next couple involved in this MAFS affair…
Designer handbag rental company owner Carolina and property developer Dion appeared to be a decent match.
Compared to the other intruder couples, Carolina and Dion got along comparatively well at their wedding. The only real drama came from Carolina growing nervous to tell Dion that she’s the mother to a teenage boy, but in the end it wasn’t a huge deal.
But things took a turn on their honeymoon when the honesty box was plopped down. Carolina thought the task gave her license to get a little too honest with Dion about his looks: she told him he wasn’t her type, before launching into a rant about how Dion’s exes probably dated him for his money.
It wasn’t great! The couple seemingly resolved their conflict before the dinner party where they appeared to be back on track. Well… until Carolina turned her attention to Daniel.
Carolina and Daniel shared some of the struggles they’ve faced in the experiment. In their conversation, as Daniel stared suggestively at Carolina, she complained about being matched with Dion. “I asked for a tall guy. And, he’s not. He’s very short actually,” she said, before adding “My husband doesn’t really like to work out. He’s never been to a gym,” she told Daniel, a personal trainer.
Carolina then asked Daniel, out of all the women in the room, who would be most his type? Daniel pointed straight at her.
In response, Carolina giggled, “Don’t tell that to my husband”. Their conversation ended with the unmatched contestants making plans to talk again. “If you ever need someone to talk to,” Carolina suggested. Dan raised his eyebrows and sipped his wine. “I’ll remember that,” he replied.

What can we expect to go down between Carolina and Daniel this season?
If you needed any more convincing that these two were about to start a secret relationship, the So Dramatic! podcast have spilled some tea about the alleged details of Carolina and Daniel’s affair. “They [Carolina and Daniel] chose to stay with each other on the show,” a source told So Dramatic! before adding “they left together and didn’t recouple or stay in the experiment.”
However, this controversial couple weren’t done shaking up the show. The podcast claims that the new couple showed up unexpectedly to a commitment ceremony where they asked the experts if they could recouple and remain in the experiment together. This is apparently what prompted some of the contestants to walk out of the room in the dramatic moment teased in earlier promos.
“The contestants are like animals in a zoo screaming at them,” a source told the podcast. “The experts were left gobsmacked.”
It’s unclear whether Carolina and Daniel were permitted to stay in the experiment as a newly formed couple, but what is clear is that the contestants were not huge fans of Carolina.
After all, Dan’s relationship with Jess was fractured from the beginning, yet based on the couple’s first dinner party it looked like Carolina and Dion were on better terms. “She’s very disliked on the show because she cheated on Dion and he was so well-liked,” the source claimed. “Carolina had a tough time but she deserved it for what she did.”
Errr… bit harsh!
