They say everything is bigger in Texas and Married at First Sight groom Andrew Davis is proving to be one of the biggest walking red flags we’ve ever seen.

The 39-year-old has already caused controversy for the frequent offensive remarks he’s directed at his TV wife Holly Greenstein. It started on their honeymoon with Andrew critiquing Holly after they first had sex, then during Confessions Week he told her she could ‘learn something’ from his past experiences with 350 sexual partners, before he acted shocked that Holly, a 36-year-old woman, is keen to have a baby in the near future.

The audacity of this man.

As the season has aired, a disturbing revelation has come out that Andrew has a history of messaging women who reject him on dating apps. In one instance, he even sent a video message asking one woman why she didn’t match with him. “I’m a little bit disappointed in you… I just wanna know what’s the deal here?” he actually said to this poor woman.

In short, Andrew is a lot! But what do we really know about this mysterious American?

Here’s everything we know about Andrew Davis from Married at First Sight.

This loud and often “brutally honest” Texan works as both a personal trainer and motivational speaker. According to this YouTube Q&A video, Andrew started out as a primary school teacher before becoming a PT. According to his bio on Ion Training which lists Andrew as a performance coach, the MAFS groom has qualifications in fitness, crossfit coaching, and first aid, and experience in Olympic lifting, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and NCAA Collegiate Baseball.

Given Andrew’s physical prowess, it’s not hugely surprising to learn that he’s previously tried to be on SAS Australia, but what is shocking is his baffling audition reel. In the clip, Andrew undresses before grabbing a can of Monster Energy (from the toilet, no less) and pouring it over himself. Daily Mail reported that Andrew — who calls himself “Tex” throughout the video — applied for SAS just months before he applied for MAFS.

The Wash has also claimed he auditioned for Elly and Beck Miles’ season of The Bachelorette in 2020.

Unlike Andrew’s auditions for various reality shows, his online presence is rather difficult to find — he recently took down his Facebook, Instagram, and PT website. While he previously hosted a podcast called Not A Fitness Podcast, all episodes have since been wiped off the internet. Andrew does have a YouTube channel featuring motivational videos like ‘The importance of protein’, or my personal favourite ‘3 Truths About Thoughts’, where he tells his 19 subscribers “thoughts are not a reflection of your reality.” Makes you think, huh!

Andrew is twice divorced but almost got married another time when he was 26 years old. The story of the dissolution of his engagement is nothing short of wild. “We were four months out from our wedding, and she went on a hen’s party. They had a male escort, like a stripper, and my ex-fiancé actually cheated on me with the male escort and then she ended up marrying the guy on our wedding day,” he said in his audition tape.

“She didn’t even change the wedding venue or the day. She used our deposit and she just changed the last name from mine to his.” Savage!

Andrew ended up getting married for real while still living in the US, before divorcing and moving to Australia to marry his second wife. “I met a girl randomly in Texas and she brought me over to Australia to meet her family in Sydney. Before I left she asked me if I would move to Australia for her. I then flew back to Texas. I sold everything that I owned. I closed two businesses. Said goodbye to all my family,” Andrew recalled in his audition.

“We only spent about eight weeks together before we got married and nine months later she was pregnant. And then when a child is born the child is either going to put a wedge in your relationship or it’s going to make it stronger.”

The marriage didn’t work out but he and his second wife continue to amicably co-parent their three-year-old daughter together. Despite facing heartbreak in his past, Andrew reckons that three times is a charm and is ready to meet his soul mate, as long as she has a sense of humour, the ability to challenge him, and provide good banter.

“I always envision myself with a family, with a child or children doing things as a cohesive unit, having fun. That’s what I look at when I see happiness.”
