The honeymoons are officially over on Married at First Sight, and it’s time to dive into the real reason we watch this show: the chaotic dinner parties.

Tonight’s first-ever dinner party showed some of our couples going stronger than ever, while more ill-suited couples found themselves navigating some drama.

With Anthony and Selin not seeing each other since their honeymoon, you could absolutely cut the tension with an upside-down wedding cake knife. Selin arrived first and made sure to tell the girls her side of the story, while Anthony took the stoic approach, deciding not to air any of their dirty laundry.

Thankfully for us, there’s Al, who in a desperate attempt to lighten the mood decided to do a shoey, much to the chagrin of his wife, Sam. Who said Aussies don’t have culture?

We’re happy to report, even though the dinner party had an adequate amount of drama, some couples seem to be thriving: notably Olivia and Jackson, and Ella and Mitch.

But will Selin and Anthony ever see eye to eye? The forecast isn’t looking so good.

Here’s tonight’s first Married At First Sight dinner party recapped via the best tweets.

Sam opens up to Al and says she thinks once she shows affection towards him, he’ll lose interest.

Andrew and Holly are putting on a brave face and Holly plans to gather opinions from some others at the dinner party about Andrew’s comments on their sexual chemistry. Dom and Tamara are suitably horrified by Andrew’s comments.

Selin rocks up to the dinner party solo and everyone loses their minds. She talks about not wanting to throw Anthony under the bus, before telling the girls all the finer details of what went down. Anthony eventually arrives and things are tense.

Al does a shoey to break up the tension. Naturally. Brent is horrified at the thought of Al’s wet foot going back into his shoe.

At the dinner party, Dom rounds on Anthony, while Tamara tries to get him to tell his side of the story. Anthony declines and says he just wants to talk to Selin solo.

Eventually Holly interrupts and breaks the tension with a speech that makes… no sense.

Meanwhile, Olivia and Ella are having a great time talking about how hot they are for their husbands.

Selin and Anthony go off to have a private chat. Anthony apologises, they argue again, and Selin calls him out for… not apologising. Yikes.
