The Final ‘MAFS’ Commitment Ceremony Recapped Via Funny Tweets
Ahhh we’re nearly at the end of the road.
That’s what I said to myself last night when I was trying to get the train home from a My Chemical Romance concert, and also because it was the final Married at First Sight commitment ceremony.
Despite the fact that at least half the couples should’ve broken up, everyone opted to stay to hit up hometowns and really test their floundering relationships. Cam and Lyndall? Why bother. Alyssa and Duncan? She has a child. Rupert and Evelyn? What nice friends. Bronte and Harrison? Don’t even get me started.
But we’re so close to the end, you guys, and why throw in the towel now when the final vows are just around the corner and Bronte and Harrison can both dump each other in a fiery way as if that wasn’t planned from the start.
Here’s last night’s Married at First Sight FINAL commitment ceremony recapped via the best tweets.
Layton and Melinda faced the experts first. John calls Layton out for not understanding the task or listening to Melinda’s feelings about feeling rejected and abandoned. Despite the tension, they both opt to stay.
Layton: *expresses emotions*
John: *immediately shuts him down*
John: Why aren't you showing any emotions? #mafs #mafsau— Manifesting femhroths ?? (@roseetea) March 19, 2023
experts should’ve saved all that feedback for layton and unleashed it on harrison instead #mafsau #mafs

After a tense session, we got a palate cleanser with Tahnee and Ollie. Ollie said he really struggled with the partner swap challenge and realised he had insecurities. Both chose to stay (surprise!) with John commending Ollie on his honesty.
tahnee and ollie are the mandatory couple required to succeed on this show so the experts don’t get their psychology licences revoked for unethical practice #mafsau #mafs

Alessandra looks like a proud mother listening to Ollie and Tahnee.
Highly likely they're the only couple who have any chance of making it.

Evelyn and Rupert are up next, and Evelyn decides to make a statement to Harrison and calls him out on his bullshit. She then says she’s been feeling underappreciated by Rupert and wants to be courted. Rupert meanwhile is too worried about being rejected by Evelyn. Imagine if they just had a conversation! Lol!
Catching up on #MAFSAU and it’s clear Evelyn speech to Harrison was edited heaps. While love to see the full speech and response by the group, would have been more interesting than Alyssa’s tears

Didn’t Rupert send Evelyn lovely flowers & a really nice card when they did the wife swap??#MAFS #MAFSAU #MAFSAustralia pic.twitter.com/kZ32zRiAJn

I’m confused. Rupert has put in more effort than any other man on the show. I haven’t seen Evelyn do anything for him. I feel like she isn’t into him but she doesn’t want to look bad so trying to make him look like a bad partner #MAFSAUS #MAFSAU #MAFS

Rupert sent some lovely Door Dash flowers Ev babes #mafs #mafsau

Lyndall and Cameron unpack their latest dilemma to the experts. Alessandra asks Cameron what ways he could possibly work around the distance and he says he needs to play it by ear but that he’s open to compromise. They both choose to stay. Just break up already!
I’m bored, can we just see Harrison be ripped to pieces please? I get it, Alyssa has a kid. Cameron has a job. Blah blah blah IM BORED #MAFSAU

Cameron is such a coward he is going to get his mum to break up with Lyndall. Fuck you Cam, she’s been through enough in life. #MAFS #MAFSAU

Alyssa and Duncan are asked how they’ve resolved things since the last commitment ceremony. Duncan opens up about being upset post-partner swap and feeling rejected by Alyssa and Alyssa calls him out on the fact he never told her he cried. Alessandra tries to reason with Alyssa who ends up in tears.
Straight out of the Olivia playbook: Alyssa gets called out and brings out the waterworks, right on cue ? #MAFS #MAFSAU pic.twitter.com/jpxvIjHjyN

Alyssa,I say this with love…please please please get therapy… you have some serious healing, maturing and growing. Your behaviour towards Duncan is toxic and I don’t think that’s who you want to be. #MAFSAU #MAFSAUS

Alyssa wtf is wrong with you girl!? He's literally sitting there telling u that he was hurt & he was crying bc of how you made him feel. YOU being the person that you are, you took that and made it all about youself. You made him APOLOGIZE for his feelings. DAFUQ!#MAFSAU #MAFS pic.twitter.com/JLK5bopJDW

Harrison and Bronte step up and Harrison says there’s a lot of work that needs to be done on their relationship. He’s upset he’s been called a manipulator. When pressed, Bronte says Harrison has crossed her boundaries and called her “fake, a liar, and a gaslighter”. Harrison says he doesn’t recall saying those things.
Everyone shits on the ability of the experts but kudos for matching the two dumbest fucks in the country#MAFS #MAFSAU pic.twitter.com/jSkE6RLokG

"It's damaging to my reputation to be called a manipulator"
Have you tried not being a manipulator? #mafsau

Expert Mel calls Harrison out on playing the amnesia card and says she doesn’t believe him. Both Bronte and Harrison choose to stay. Melinda calls Harrison out for saying that he’s “100% done” and wanting to leave. Then (FINALLY!) Ollie calls Harrison out for saying on the boys’ night that he didn’t want to go to Perth at all and didn’t want Bronte to be his tour guide.
Everyone watching Bronte and Harrison#MAFS #MAFSAU pic.twitter.com/KMVj3brk3G

Seriously cant wait till homestay and watch Bronte's sister grill Harrison and put him in his place, then slap the shit out of Bronte so she can wake up #MAFSAU #MAFS
— OOZI (@tarpalee) March 19, 2023
Harrison and Brontë staying is INSANE but I’m thinking maybe it’s a strategic move from Brontë to be able to have her sister rip into him during home stay week #MAFSAU
