A Dedication To Rupert, The Unsung Hero Of ‘MAFS’
Rupert Bugden has been a late fan favourite on the current season of Married at First Sight.
Partnered up with Evelyn Ellis, the Queensland electrician had an awkward start on the show, after appearing to be so struck down by nerves upon meeting his glamorous wife that he could barely get a sentence out.
After overcoming his nerves (and of course being stuck in this season’s biggest storyline — the butt dial incident), fans of MAFS have begun to see various sides of Rupert and it turns out that behind the awkwardness is one of the better guys on the show. Touch wood! Labelling a guy from MAFS as decent can always come back to bite you.
From the backing of Evelyn, to the fact he doesn’t seem to give a flying f*ck about Harrison, we’ve listed some of Rupert’s best moments from Married at First Sight so far.

1. His adorable reaction to Evelyn upon first meeting her
OK yeah he was awkward AF, but he was just lost for words!
2. The whole butt dial incident
Whether you want to believe the butt dial occurred or not (let’s be real, it probably didn’t) one thing is certain — some of the men were talking badly about their wives and Rupert reported it back to Evelyn in some way, shape or form, which means he vehemently disagrees with how the men in question were talking. We have to stan a respectful king!
3. When he couldn’t give a single fuck about Harrison saying he couldn’t be trusted at the couples retreat
With tensions from the butt dial saga still high, Harrison told the group that he couldn’t trust Rupert to which Rupert flatly responded that he didn’t care if Harrison trusted him or not.
4. In fact, when he couldn’t give a fuck about Harrison in general
Rupert has been the first (and only) husband to properly call Harrison out at any given point, Layton doesn’t count because he let Melinda do all the heavy lifting for him until he was finally backed into a corner and then stood up to Harrison. Rupert has given zero fucks from the get-go and isn’t threatened by Harrison in the slightest and we love to see it.
5. His very cute bromance with Ollie
Find you someone who looks at you the way Rupert looks at Ollie.
Shoutout to the only two good guys on this show!
6. His boys’ night reaction to Shannon
Shannon entered the room full of chaotic bravado to greet the lads, even though as an audience we would’ve been fine to never see him on our TV screens again. Like seriously, they should have cut him out like they did to Dan.
But Rupert and Ollie’s faces said it all.
“Out of the fellas I didn’t meet, I thought Josh was awesome, I really like him, I’d get along with him” Rupert said. “Shannon… not so much.”

7. And his constant support of Evelyn
From the aforementioned butt dial saga to backing her at dinner parties, Rupert knows his right from wrong and isn’t afraid to speak up either to back his wife, or in defence of her, which can’t be said about…. pretty much any other man left in the experiment.
