Gather ’round fellow Married at First Sight addicts, ‘cos we have some scalding hot tea about the adorably awkward intruder, Rupert Bugden.

ICYMI, the 27-year-old electrician sent fans into a tizzy during his wedding to Evelyn Ellis after he stumbled over his words during his vows to the stunning marketing manager and model, and he even managed to drop the wedding rings during the ceremony.

Post-wedding, the awkward groom went on to win over viewers for his shy guy persona after he admitted that he was nervous around his bride due to her stunning beauty, and later revealed at the pair’s commitment ceremony that he has a fear of rejection.

However, according to the reality star’s mates, the real-life Rupert is far different to what we’re seeing this season. Speaking to Yahoo! Lifestyle, one friend spilled that he’s actually a bit of a party boy!

“Rupert loves to party and has always been confident,” they told the publication, adding, “He comes across awkward on the TV just because of all the cameras and crew around him, he’s completely out of his comfort zone.”

Interestingly, Rupert’s bio on Channel 9’s website also claims his pals call him ‘the cattle dog’ because he will “go up and chat to anyone.”

So why the shy guy edit? Well, we all know that MAFS producers love a bit of drama, so it looks like Rupert’s supposed shyness is just the latest tactic to keep us hooked (and boy, are we ever).

Let’s also not forget that this guy signed up to marry a stranger on national TV, which takes some serious guts, so we’re pretty sure he’s not a total wallflower.

Given this juicy lil tidbit of info, we can’t wait to see how his super cute relationship with Evelyn blossoms in future eps. Go get ’em, Rupert!

Married at First Sight airs Sunday to Wednesday on Channel 9.
