It Must Be A Monday Because Another ‘MAFS’ Contestant Is Slamming Their Edit
Controversial queen Tayla Winter has jumped on her soapbox (again) to complain about the “extent of editing” that goes into Married at First Sight, and I’m just sitting here quietly wondering if she knew what show she applied for?
“I didn’t realise how controlling the environment was going to be and I didn’t realise how manipulative production were for reality TV,” she told The Mercury.
“What you see is around five percent of what actually happened and even that five percent that is shown to the public is so heavily fabricated,” Tayla said, like so many reality TV villains before her.
While Tayla was playing the pity card, she also dropped some interesting BTS intel about scenes between herself and her TV husband Hugo, which weren’t aired.
After Tayla and Hugo exchanged some rather cringeworthy vows at their wedding, which included Tayla telling her hubby he had the same name as her pet goat (RIP, Hugo), they headed to their honeymoon in Victoria’s wine region. From here, their storyline centred around Tayla making a song and dance about having the bed to herself and forcing Hugo to sleep on the couch.
Unfortunately for producers, a video leaked that showed Hugo and Tayla snuggled up in bed together getting along great on their honeymoon, while calling out the show for editing the show to make it look as though they don’t get along.

“Hugo and I weren’t even allowed to talk away from cameras. The extent of editing is insane, I didn’t realise they could create conversations through taking bits and pieces of audio and putting them together,” she said.
“After seeing [the leaked videos] a lot of people realised what had been shown was so fake,” Tayla added of the mysteriously leaked vid.
“The whole not sharing a bed scenario was portrayed in such a different light to what actually went down. I slept on the couch the entire time and gave Hugo the bed throughout the experiment.”
Tayla added that the filming crew had free rein to her room. “I also didn’t expect to be woken with male film crew in my room with a camera in my face because they had 24/7 access to the room.”
The 27-year-old said she tried to leave the experiment but was told by producers that she wasn’t allowed to, and similar claims have been raised by Lyndall Grace and Harrison Boon.
“I was trying to leave as soon as I started,” she told the publication. “From what I’ve heard a lot of us were and were not allowed to leave.
“I left in the end because I could see the effect it was having on myself and the other cast members. I’m lucky to have their support because I don’t think I would have got through all of this without them.”
After waxing lyrical about the extent of editing on MAFS, Tayla (kind of) took some responsibility for her portrayal on the show.
“I acknowledge how I signed the contract and went into the show of my own free will, so I understand I should be taking some of the backlash on my stride,” she said.
Call me crazy but that sounds like accountability and growth to me. I guess John Aiken’s finally proved why he’s worth the big bucks.
