Michael Brunelli has shared a super sweet dedication to his fiancé Martha Kalifatidis who has been struck down with a worrying illness in the past couple of months.

Over the weekend, the couple announced the exciting news that they were expecting a baby, but also revealed that Martha had been diagnosed with Hyperemesis gravidarum (HG). The condition is an extreme form of morning sickness that causes severe nausea and vomiting during pregnancy.

Martha began feeling sick while travelling around Europe with Michael, with the couple finding out they were expecting a baby while holidaying in Rome. “The past few months have been tough,” Michael’s Instagram post began. “I watched Martha go from enjoying a holiday, to nervously celebrating a new stage in our life, to moaning in pain for hours and days on end.⁣”

Michael went on to reveal that Martha spent 10 weeks bedridden 24 hours a day while being “dehydrated, nauseous, vomiting, restless, tired, anxious, fatigued and unable to properly sleep or eat.”

Along with Michael’s caption, he included some confronting videos of Martha lying in a hospital bed, along with private videos of Michael counselling Martha as she cries out in pain.

“She is a fu**ing warrior! And so is every other woman that is diagnosed with HG or any pregnancy related condition. ⁣I can’t begin to imagine what it’s felt like for her, and while I’ve tried to help as much as I can, at times I’ve just felt completely helpless,” Michael wrote.

“I think about all the times she grabbed my hand and said ‘babe, please help’, knowing full well I couldn’t do anything more for her, and it absolutely rips my heart out.”

Martha shared Michael’s dedication on her Instagram Story, captioned “Love you Bruiser.”

Hyperemesis gravidarum (HG) is a common (yet often downplayed) health issue associated with pregnancy, affecting an estimated one in 100 pregnant women. High profile people like Amy Schumer, Kate Middleton, and Kim Kardashian have all revealed they experienced HG during their pregnancies.

Michael and Martha met on the 2019 season of Married at First Sight, before getting engaged in 2021.
