A Sequel To The ‘Twilight’ Series Might Be On Its Way & Fans Are Losing It
Wake up from your iso arvo nap! Rumours are brewing that the sequel to the Twilight series could be on its way, and people are losing their goddamn minds.
The Twilight saga was an absolute phenomenon, with the novels written by Stephanie Meyer (released between 2005-2008) quickly turned into a five-part film series (released from 2008-2012), starring Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson.
So while it’s been quite a while since our last fix of the Cullens and Bella Swan, fans have noticed a countdown on Meyer’s website, and it goes without saying people are speculating about the long-promised sequel.
Back in the day, Meyer talked about a companion novel to the Twilight books titled Midnight Sun, with the premise of the book based on retelling the events of Twilight through the perspective of Edward Cullen.
So why did it never come about? Well, there was a little drama surrounding the whole thing. In mid-2008, Meyer halted the writing of Midnight Sun after 12 chapters of the unfinished manuscript were leaked. At the time she stated if she continued writing it, the Cullens would all die and James would win, and she felt too sad about what happened to continue working on the novel.
Meyer instead made the draft available on her website for her readers and her goal was to wait for around two years without hearing about Midnight Sun, and then she’d resume the novel again when she was sure “everyone’s forgotten about it.”
But! Enough about that decade-old drama! Is this countdown an indicator that enough time has gone by and Midnight Sun is going to be released?!
Twilight fans are excitedly speculating that Midnight Sun could be on its way:

Stephanie Meyer seems to be gearing up to release Midnight Sun (took the draft down from her site, moved Twilight up on her homepage, announced a 4 day long space themed countdown that is across all of her social profiles) and I am. Honestly hyped. Years of waiting are paying off pic.twitter.com/CA1TlBp76r

But some fans think Stephanie may just be announcing a sequel to her other novel, The Host:

Well, in good news, we’ll know by later tonight so stay tuned y’all.
Personally, I want a sequel told through the eyes of weird hybrid baby Renesmee all grown up, but I guess we can’t always get what we want.
