Viewers Describe ‘Million Dollar Island’ As ‘Boring’ And A Survivor Rip-Off

Channel Seven’s newest reality show Million Dollar Island is finally here, and the Ant Middleton-hosted Survivor dupe went about as well as you’d expect. The show was messy from the start, with production dropping 100 contestants in the ocean, forcing the group to swim to a secluded Malaysian island.

Absolute mayhem ensued once the contestants made it to shore, as everybody grabbed food and equipment from the wooden crates on the beach. The supplies were limited, but players who missed out simply decided to steal from their fellow contestants. Sure!

Here’s how the game works: each contestant starts off with a $10,000 bracelet, and they can steal other players’ bracelets through challenges. The castaways’ survival skills will be tested, all while playing a social game and creating alliances. Sound familiar?

It seems as though Seven has decided to take Channel 10’s popular format Survivor, but supersize everything – with a million-dollar prize (compared to Survivor’s $500,000), and an insane amount of contestants.

But as we all know, bigger is not always better. How on earth are we supposed to connect with any contestants when there are so many? It’s hard enough with 24. I had so many questions while watching, and I wasn’t the only sceptical viewer.
