Jersey Devil – Wharton State Forest, New Jersey, U.S

While deeply rooted in folklore, a number of witnesses have reported sightings of the Jersey Devil frightening visitors to the Wharton State Forest in New Jersey. Journey over to Wharton State Forest to camp and wait for your own spotting of the tiny (and somewhat adorable-looking) creature.

The story goes that the Jersey Devil was born in the New Jersey pine barrens to a woman known as Mother Leeds, who wished for her child: ‘let the next one be the devil!’ The Jersey Devil apparently has a 10 inch leathery wingspan, the head of a horse, and a set of horns.
