The New Instagram ‘Highlights’ Update Gives New Life To All Your Lit IG Stories
Instagram may have copied Snapchat with their Instagram stories but.. ahh… nup, nothing.
Today the Facebook owned image platform has rolled out a new feature, one that Snapchat have offered for while. It now automatically saves copies of your IG stories into an archive section, so you can relive all your fire antics forevermore.
While you could previously open up your story and manually download fire snaps, if it wasn’t saved it would disappear from your story, gone for eternity.
The stories will all save to an archive section on Instagram which users can opt-in for.
But wait there’s more…
Instagram will package up all your old stories into what it calls ‘Highlights’. Story Highlights are supposed to give you the chance to ‘show all the sides of your personality with highlights out of anything you’ve shared to your story in the past.
Instagram describe the highlights feature best in their blog, saying:
You can choose any stories from your archive, select a cover for your highlight and give it a name. Once you’re done, your highlight will appear as a circle on your profile that plays as a stand-alone story when someone taps it. Highlights stay on your profile until you remove them, and you can have as many highlights as you’d like. To edit or remove a highlight, just tap and hold that highlight on your profile.
Easy-peasy!
