A ‘One Tree Hill’ Extra Has Revealed Which Actor Sucked The Most

One Tree Hill had a hold on me in the early ‘00s, with the basketball teen drama turning Chad Michael Murray and Sophia Bush into household names.

Of course, I followed the pair’s real-life romance closely and became convinced Chad was to blame for their divorce. Nothing has ever been confirmed, but 16-year-old me was absolutely sure Chad cheated on Sophia with Paris Hilton while filming The House of Wax.

And now a former One Tree Hill extra, Lucy Huber, has served up some piping hot tea about her time working on the show. As part of a Twitter trend where users reveal the nicest and rudest celebrity they’ve met, Lucy tweeted that Sophia was the nicest celebrity on the One Tree Hill set, while Chad was the complete opposite.

I’m not surprised. In fact, this validates everything I’ve ever believed about the exes.

The extra, who now works as a writer, worked on multiple episodes, including One Tree Hill’s iconic prom episode in Season 4. You know, the one where Haley discovers Nathan and Brooke’s sex tape, Brooke gets slut-shamed and Peyton gets taken hostage by Psycho Derek.

This show was c-r-a-z-y and I loved every second of it. But I digress. Let’s get back to what the extra revealed about the actors.

“[Sophia Bush] was super nice to everyone on set, was always joking around with everyone. I would see her out at bars and she was always happy to say hi to people,” she said. “[Chad Michael Murray] would do his scene and leave, never acknowledged anyone, which like I get, he’s at work, but just a stark difference.”

One Tree Hill was famously filmed in Wilmington, North Carolina, with nostalgic fans still making the trip to visit locations such as the the ‘Rivercourt’. The fact that it was filmed in a small town, rather than Hollywood, meant that Chad’s behaviour stuck out like a sore thumb.

“It’s not like the extras were fans trying to meet him, it was mostly college students who needed part-time jobs,” she explained. “It was a very chill set, the stars lived in the small town, we saw them often going about their lives. So it always felt weird that he was like, ‘I won’t speak to any of you’.

“Whereas Sophia def acted more like she just lived in the town and was part of it.”

Need more proof? Here are some pretty damning tweets from people who also had unpleasant encounters with Chad Michael Murray:

I’m so glad Sophia is a real-life angel, and as for that Other Guy… Chad who?
