Whether you grew up in the era of Paris Hilton’s ’00s fame or came to love her later in life after her cooking series or documentary, there’s no denying she’s a Hollywood icon.

Perhaps one of the more iconic images of her that has done the rounds over the years — popping up as meme material often — is an image of her wearing a shirt that was emblazoned with the words “Stop being poor.”

In the image, Paris looks triumphant, hands in the air, a huge smile on her face, as she allegedly sends a message to the world. Just stop being poor. Stop it!

In BIG news, Paris has taken to TikTok to debunk this whole damn shirt and you better believe it’s not actually real. Our whole youth has been a lie.

“So, there’s this photo online of me… I’m sure you’ve seen it. I never wore that shirt,” Paris stated in the TikTok. “This was completely photoshopped, everyone thinks it’s real but that’s not the truth.”

Paris then revealed she had been wearing a shirt saying “Stop being desperate.”

“Don’t believe everything you read,” she finished the video with.

I’m going to give it 24 hours before new versions of the “Stop being desperate” shirt are sold online, much like Britney’s iconic ‘Dump Him’ shirt.

The ’00s really are the gift that keeps on giving.
