Sam From ‘MAFS’ Low-Key Shaded Al For Potentially Joining ‘Love Island’
Former Married At First Sight bride Samantha Moitzi has responded to rumours of her ex-reality TV hubby, Al Perkins, joining Love Island, saying that she’s “not annoyed” by his latest venture. But it seems like she is a little pressed that he was allowed on the show.
Sam and Al were paired together on the 2022 season of Married At First Sight, but unfortunately, their relationship ended before the finale. Al became a fan fave for his goofy personality and his unrivalled status as the ‘shoey king’. And if you don’t know what that is, here’s his latest Insta post.

In a juicy Instagram Q&A sesh, fans asked Samantha for her opinions on Al potentially joining another dating show.
Sam reassured her followers that she isn’t annoyed with Al’s rumoured appearance on Love Island and is happy for her former flame. “Definitely not annoyed that Al is going on Love Island,” the reality TV star said. “I actually wish him all the best.”
However, she did state that she was confused about him being cast, due to the MAFS contract allegedly not allowing contestants to sign on to other reality TV shows. “A little bit confused because we’re actually not allowed to apply for any reality TV shows for over a year of the last episode airing. So that’s quite a long way away.”
Things took a shady turn after she suggested that Al may have gotten special treatment due to Love Island being a Channel 9 production. “I guess it’s because Love Island is a Channel 9 production,” she said. “Maybe he got special allowance for that. I’m not sure.” Imho, Al getting another reality TV gig is not surprising as he was one of the breakout stars of MAFS 2022.
But despite her confusion over contracts and Al joining another show, she did express her support for his latest project stating that he will “love Love Island,” Sam said. “Good on him for getting opportunities, I’m super happy for him…I hope he finds love. I do.”
Fellow Season 9 bride Olivia Frazer also commented on her costar’s newest reality TV gig in her own little Q&A Insta sesh, saying, “I hope he has a ball and finds a nice girlfy.”
This year’s Love Island cast has yet to be revealed and Channel 9 hasn’t confirmed if Al is really on the show, but I think Sam’s response suggests that the shoey king is probably about to enter the villa.
Rumours first began to swirl of Al joining Love Island after pics obtained by the Daily Mail were leaked showing a familiar face in the Spanish villa. Fans also speculated that he’s on the show due to his lack of social media activity in recent weeks.
But I guess we’ll have to wait for the Love Island press to kick in to truly see if he’s on the quest for love… once again.
