Hayley’s Double Blindside On ‘Australian Survivor’ Last Night Was Reality TV Gold
In a surprise to no one, Hayley has continued to prove she’s the true leader of Australian Survivor: Brains v Brawn by coordinating two brutal blindsides in a single elimination last night.
After Prison Officer Dani floated the idea of wanting to blindside her top ally Simon, Hayley and Dani decided to team up to get the job done. Or so Dani thought.
Making the biggest Survivor mistake imaginable, Simon let Dani and MMA Chelsea know that he had not one, but two idols in his possession — a huge threat with a tribe merge being so close. So, after getting far too cocky with his position as leader of the pack, Dani knew it was time to “Sandra Bullock”, aka blindside, her close friend.
To do this, Dani and Hayley spread the message through the new Brawn tribe that the team had to throw the Immunity challenge in order for their plan to work. The result? We were forced to watch the most boring, and blindingly obvious, challenge throw in Survivor history.
Yet, even with the Brawn tribe beaming from ear-to-ear every time they purposefully dropped their little balanced balls while benching their strongest team members, Simon failed to notice that his tribe desperately wanted to go to Tribal. But because Simon was just so sure that Surfer Flick was going to be the next contestant sent home, he just didn’t give his team’s lackluster performance a second thought.
Similarly, Dani put way too much trust in Hayley that she was confident that even if Simon played an idol, Flick would be sent home in his place. Of course, Hayley, as the mastermind she is, wasn’t going to let that happen.
It's one thing to orchestrate a blindside, but to blindside a blindside & conduct it with a symphony of irrefutable influence, dominant negotiation & confidence, all while 2 idols lurk, is mastermind. And this is why Hayley is defined by her intellect, not her abs… #SurvivorAU pic.twitter.com/9FIc0oWE4P

So Hayley went around camp and planned the night’s second blindside against Dani by splitting the votes between her alliance. To make this plan work, however, Hayley had to make sure that Confused Cara and King George voted against Simon with the advantage they found during the sickly sweet reward that gave them the power of two votes at the Brawn Tribal.
Thankfully, DILF Baden was still in Cara and George’s good books and was confident he could get the message across before the vote took place. But as with anything that involves Queen of Chaos Cara, nothing went according to plan.
After Baden quietly whispered to the pair to put “two on Simon” as he “has two idols” while the rest of the tribe were distracted, Cara decided to have a loud Q&A with her former teammate instead of just going along with the plans in place.
“WHO IS THE SPLIT VOTE?!?!?!?” Cara loudly asked after hearing of the plan to oust Simon, potentially ruining the entire blindside. “You guys want to say something? Sorry, Baden. I didn’t mean to interrupt,” Simon responded after hearing the loud rumblings. But somehow, by the grace of Macedonian Jesus, big, beautiful, dumb Simon still didn’t clock what was going on.
Foreshadowing his future in the most perfect way imaginable, Simon busted his thong on his way up to the voting area and still didn’t choose to play any of his idols. Meanwhile, Dani’s face dropped as the votes were read out and she quickly realised that Hayley blindsided her with a split vote, too.
But in the end, Simon’s five votes just beat out Dani’s three and Flick’s one, and the bodybuilder-turned-carpenter was sent packing with two idols burning a hole in his pocket — a first for Australian Survivor, which isn’t all that surprising with how clueless you have to be for that to happen.
Now with the merge around the corner, there’s no telling what the post-blindside Dani and Hayley fallout will be. But one thing is certain: It’s sure to be a juicy one on Sunday night.
