It’s hometowns on The Bachelor and we all know what that means: thinly-veiled misogyny sold as petty family drama! Yep this episode had it all, including irrationally angry brothers, intimidating dads who also cook, mums and sisters getting emotional, and messy best friends unintentionally ruining their friend’s shot at love.

Jimmy kicked off in the Mornington Peninsula to meet Carlie, before heading up to see Jay and Holly in Sydney, then back down to Melbourne for Brooke. Hey Jimmy, I know you like to fly, but you do get that you could have covered Carlie and Brooke’s hometowns in one trip? He might be king of the skies, but a geography lesson wouldn’t go astray buddy.

As is tradition, at every hometown destination there was a big personality to contend with. Carlie’s brother consistently death-staring Jimmy throughout dinner was truly something, as was Jay’s bestie basically telling Jimmy all of Jay’s secrets — including the fact she has previously dated someone famous, which is something Jay neglected to tell ol’ Jimbo. Holly’s bestie labelled Jimmy’s robotic responses as “generic”, then Brooke’s brother threw a spanner in the works by warning Jimmy that his work schedule could be a dealbreaker for Brooke.

If a lesson can be learnt from tonight’s hometowns, let it be this: never introduce your significant other to…anyone, especially if your SO is also dating three other women. Let’s jump into the tweets, as tonight they were goddamn spectacular.

Tonight’s The Bachelor hometowns retold via funny tweets:

It’s hometowns! We begin at the Mornington Peninsula where Jimmy and Carlie had a date in a vineyard, before meeting her parents and brother for dinner. Carlie’s brother, Ryan, spent the night glaring at Jimmy, and he later grilled him over describing his sister as “calm and stable”.

Next up Jimmy met Jay in Sydney, where she introduced him to her dad and friends. We immediately stan Jay’s dad and his 6am prawn curry. Jay’s friend told Jimmy that Jay had previously dated someone famous and wanted to be a presenter herself, leaving Jimmy suspicious over why Jay never mentioned any of that to him.

Staying in Sydney, Jimmy reunited with Holly to greet her mum, bestie Sam, and Sam’s parents. Sam pressed Jimmy on how his pilot schedule would work with Holly’s life.

Down in Melbourne, Brooke introduced her mum, dad and siblings. She spoke privately to her mum and sister that she had fallen for Jimmy and got emotional.

Her brother Kristen warned Jimmy that Brooke is codependent in relationships. This left Jimmy rattled even though umm… she already told him this very thing on last night’s episode. Keep up, Jimmy!

At the rose ceremony, Jimmy left Carlie heartbroken when she didn’t make his top three.
