Zoe-Clare From ‘The Bachelor’ On The Divide In The House & Why She Was Ready To Walk Out

Zoe-Clare was one of the standout stars from the premiere of this year’s season of The Bachelor, though not necessarily for the right reasons.

Her impassioned speech about being targeted for being a redhead raised eyebrows and after the first week of drama in the house, we didn’t see all that much of her until her exit on last night’s episode.

Rumours were flying that Zoe-Clare would walk out, but she made it to the rose ceremony only to be left roseless by Locky.  When saying goodbye to him, she uttered this warning:

What bullshit? What went down in the mansion that we didn’t see? What did Juliette even do to get Roxi so upset?! Who’s blindsiding who?!

If you were left with more questions than answers after last night’s episode, we spoke to Zoe-Clare and tried to prod her for some answers.

Here’s the tea Zoe-Clare spilt about her time on The Bachelor.

On what it was like watching that speech back and why she featured less as the series went on:

“I got a bit of hate after the speech. Some people related to it, but obviously I got the backlash and people saying ridiculous things. But I was like, you know what, my family and friends know who I am, the girls in the house know who I am, it’s all good. To me it was fine, it was just an out-of-body experience to see it on TV.

“I was really sick from the start, I was on medication pretty much until I left. I was so flat after the first night, and probably shouldn’t have been allowed to have a few drinks! But I tried to stay out of the drama a lot, if someone tried to drag me into it I was like, ‘do not speak to me.'”

On the drama in the house:

“There was definitely a big divide in the house, there were a lot of accusations and a lot of crap being spread. I vividly remember that night, it was all a lot of hearsay. But it is legitimate, the girls being upset and stuff, it does all make sense if the whole story was being shown but I guess it’s hard for the audience to understand it as much as we do.”

On her warning to Locky:

“I think we all know Locky doesn’t see everything, he doesn’t hear everything. The poor bloke, he comes into this situation and doesn’t know what has happened that day or what’s been said. So I did say don’t be blindsided by the bullshit, there was a lot there. I don’t believe anyone was there for the wrong reasons. But I used to joke it was like, ‘Lights, Camera, Action’ and some of them would pop up like “OK!” It’s funny because the audience is starting to pick up on the girls that are doing it. I could sit there and put money on the person who was going to say something only to the camera, you could just tell.”

On her “walkout” that was never shown:

“I did express I wasn’t interested in being in the house anymore. The environment wasn’t for me. I genuinely am not comfortable with bullying, especially with grown-ass women, it’s so unnecessary. So there was a moment where I said I wasn’t vibing this. But you have to play the game, you’ve gotta do what you gotta do.

On her connection with Locky:

“Locky is someone I’d be a mate with, not someone I would share a bed with. We could sit down and have chats, we had good vibes, it was like talking to one of my guy mates. But I think when you’re genuinely attracted to someone it should be there straight away. There were moments I was like “yes, this guy is so hot” but I can be like that with my guy mates too, you get to know someone but it’s like I can’t imagine sitting down at my dinner table every night and having a conversation with you.”

On missing out on the Zoom dates:

“Oh, I was so glad! Apparently the Zoom dates were a lot of fun, the girls had a great time, but I couldn’t have done it! I’d find it so mind-numbing sitting in front of a screen all day. I say stuff under my breath a lot, I don’t intentionally do it, but I am really direct. I need to train myself not to do that. Zoom dates wouldn’t have done well for me!”

On whether she’s spoken to Areeba or Juliette:

“No, I haven’t. I… no, I shouldn’t say that. I haven’t really spoken to them.”

On whether she’d be open to Bachelor In Paradise:

“I think I’d be open to BIP but I’d love to see the cast of The Bachelorette first. Because if I don’t have any interest in the blokes, there’d be no point in me doing it, it’d be a waste of my time because I really would like to find someone eventually. And I do want to be able to show who I really am, maybe tone down my bluntness a little bit. But never say never. I keep saying ‘I’ll see what snacks are on there’ but I’m looking for a meal!”

On who she thinks will win Locky’s heart:

“I’m tossing between Irena and Bella. I genuinely saw their connections. I actually don’t know who wins. I’m very curious myself, I’m very close friends with Irena so I’m ready to either pop the champagne for her or pour her a glass of red.”

The Bachelor returns tonight, 7:30pm on Channel 10.
