First of all, that voice is unmistakably Sam’s voice. But along with Popcorn’s vocals, all the clues match up perfectly.
Don’t believe us?
Here’s every clue that points to the identity of Popcorn on The Masked Singer being Aussie pop singer, Sam Sparro.
Week One
Clue: Popcorn is standing on a desert road holding a sign that says “Fame” with pink clouds rolling by in the background.
Explanation: Sparro’s hit song ‘Black and Gold’ was performed on the 2009 movie adaption of Fame. And the Aussie singer has a tune titled, ‘Pink Cloud’.
Clue: A bodyguard is holding a tray with a bible on it.
Explanation: Sparrow grew up singing choir in church and when he moved to Los Angeles, he reportedly became a child star in the West Coast gospel circuit.
Clue: “I went from nothing to huge in the blink of an eye, or that’s how it seems to you but there’s a lot of work in being an overnight success.”
Explanation: Sparro shot to stardom with ‘Black and Gold’, which skyrocketed up the charts all around the world, and the song was even nominated for a Grammy in 2009. However, the song was the second track released from his album, with his first song ‘Cottonmouth’ dropping in 2007 but flopping — making his success far from something that happened overnight.
Clue: “Wikipedia says Popcorn’s ancestors come from Mexico, I don’t think that’s true but maybe it is because I’ve been in a lot of places.”
Explanation: Popcorn was first invented in Mexico City, but Sparro’s heritage is Maltese-Australian.
Clue: “It’s hard to know where home is, if I got stuck on a desert island who would I want to be with? Kylie of course, and Lady Gaga.”
Explanation: The singer’s record label is called Island Records. Sparro has a random connection to Lady Gaga: he once stored Gaga’s iconic meat dress in his fridge. Meanwhile, he has a song with Kylie Minogue, titled ‘If I Can’t Have You’.
Week Two
Clue: Popcorn showed a poster for a movie called “Good Times with Popcorn” that starred George Michael and Lindsay Lohan.
Explanation: Sparrow once performed in a tribute show for George Michael. He has previously penned music for Lindsay Lohan.

Explanation: The singer and songwriter is an openly gay man. He married his partner, Zion Lennox, in 2018.
Clue: “Am I an American boy?”
Explanation: Sam once did a cover of Estelle’s hit song, ‘American Boy’.
