Jess Mauboy Tells Me What She Thinks Of New ‘The Voice’ Judge, Jason Derulo
As we I through 2023 (how is it August, seriously?) the reality TV show calendar is looking stacked. Seven’s The Voice Australia and Nine’s The Block premiere on Sunday, 6 August, while Ten’s Hunted starts to wrap up, and I’m yet to hear when The Masked Singer will hit screens but I can feel it coming. In my bones.
So it looks like I’ll be spending a significant amount of time on the couch.
Our fave coaches from The Voice Australia, Jess Mauboy, Rita Ora and Guy Sebastian, will be back in the red chairs but Keith Urban decided not to return. But no time to be sad pls, because Seven managed to nab iconic US singer Jason Derulo to replace Keith – and I’m praying that he sings his name at least once during the show.
I’m pretty invested in The Voice Australia, so when Jess stopped to chat with Punkee at the Logies, I had to ask her what fans can expect from the flashy new season.
What can we expect from The Voice Australia 2023?
Apparently, the talent is out of this world, and the new judge brings a fun vibe to the table.
“The Voice is bigger and better. It gets bigger and better every year, but this year we have a new panel member, Jason Derulo. He’s so fun and so spontaneous, and to have him bring his vibe is just undeniable,” Jess gushed.

“He speaks in depth on the show about his music and his journey, and it’s really nice to see that side of him.”
When will The Voice Australia 2023 start airing?
Channel Seven is launching the show on Sunday, 6 August, at 7pm. It’s going head-to-head with one of Nine’s biggest reality shows, The Block Australia, so it’ll be a ratings war.
Who are the coaches on The Voice Australia 2023?
Jess Mauboy, Rita Ora and Guy Sebastian are returning to the show, but Keith Urban decided to step back from the show to spend more time with his family. However, he is open to returning in the future, so we might see him back in a red chair one day.
“I actually don’t think of it as the end of a chapter at all because I love doing the show. I feel very close to everybody on set and hopefully, the door can stay open because I would jump back in a heartbeat,” Keith told The Sunday Telegraph last year.
His replacement, Jason, said he was looking forward to being part of The Voice Australia. “I’ve always loved The Voice and Australia happens to be one of my favourite places in the world. I can’t wait to hear all the amazing talent down under!” he said in a statement from Seven.

Who is hosting The Voice Australia 2023?
Gold Logie winner Sonia Kruger will be back to host the singing competition once again. She’s no stranger to hosting Seven shows, with past seasons of The Voice, Big Brother and Dancing With The Stars all under her belt.
