All Of The Unlikely Celebrity Couples Who Have Been Living In My Head Rent-Free

There’s nothing quite like vicariously living through a celebrity relationship.

They’re the kinds of relationships that are full of the glitz and glam vacays and Insta posts that us normal plebs could only ever dream of, and sometimes the social media posts are filled with so much PDA, you nearly have to avert your eyes.

2020 and 2021 have been full of ups and downs when it comes to relationships – we’ve seen breakups we never could’ve predicted, makeups that have brought back all kinds of ’00s nostalgia, and unlikely pairings that have captivated our attention.

So while some of us are still gently weeping over John Mulaney and Anne Marie Tendler’s divorce, and while none of us were overly shocked by Kimye (minus that whole Jeffree Starr rumour), there are certain celebrity couples I cannot stop thinking about right now.

You could call me desperately single, you could say that I’m projecting my fantasies onto unsustainable goals, you may think I need a life – so be it. But I can’t be the only person wildly captivated by the return of the heavily tattooed punk rock boyfriend, or the excessive PDA happening around Sydney between an unlikely celebrity pairing.

Here are the current celebrity couples living in my head rent-free.

1. Machine Gun Kelly & Megan Fox

When I say these two live in my head rent-free, I mean it. What started as a strange “what the?” celebrity pairing has turned into my full-blown relationship goals. Sure, Megan may have lost us slightly when she described the two of them as ‘twin flames’ but who can deny the obvious chemistry from the ‘My Bloody Valentine’ music video?

The couple most recently packed on the PDA at the 2021 Billboard awards, proving they’re still hot and heavy, and honestly they’re the weird gothic, emo rockstar couple of my dreams.

2. Kourtney Kardashian & Travis Barker

Speaking of rockstar couples, Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker may have caught us all off guard, but ever since they confirmed their relationship they’ve proved one thing: they are very, very into each other.

From trips away to gushing comments on each other’s posts, and Kourtney even tattooing ‘I love you’ on the former Blink 182 member’s arm, the unlikely pairing seem that blissfully happy, it almost feels nostalgic of a high school crush.

Oh, and who could forget the video Travis put up in a PDA-packed gallery to celebrate Kourtney’s birthday? Keep swiping if you dare.

It must be mentioned that Kourtney’s lifestyle brand Poosh has pivoted to some horny content lately that she can’t resist sharing — and we just love to see it.

Kourtney Kardashian is having a moment and we are absolutely here for it.

3. Taika Waititi & Rita Ora

There’s a lot of perplexing things happening in the world right now, and Taika Waititi and Rita Ora’s romance is one of them. The two stars are currently canoodling around Sydney and no one quite gets the relationship, which means we’ve just been thinking about it constantly.

Now, if it wasn’t hard enough to comprehend Rita and Taika, photos recently emerged of the couple also sharing a moment with Tessa Thompson.

Like we said, no one knows what the hell is happening but it hasn’t stopped people from commentating on the unlikely throuple and their passionate moments from the safe distance of social media.

4. Florence Pugh & Zach Braff

Are they married? Are they not? They allegedly started dating in 2019, and copped a fair bit of criticism for their 20-year age gap, which even resulted in Pugh posting an Instagram video calling people out for mocking their relationship and leaving mean comments after she posted something for Braff’s birthday in 2020.

Pugh most recently posted for Braff’s 46th birthday last month (disabling Instagram comments however), saying, “His need to make people laugh and smile is never-ending, his constant generosity and love for others is infectious.” So the pair are still going strong, have adopted a dog together, and more importantly, Pugh doesn’t give a f*ck what anyone thinks.

5. Jennifer Lopez & Ben Affleck

What’s hotter than bringing back the emo boyfriend trend in 2021? Well, ’00s fever dream couple J-Lo and Ben Affleck reuniting, of course!

The pair have been spotted together numerous times in 2021, sparking rumours their romance is back on. Dubbed ‘Bennifer’ by the media in the early ’00s, the couple had a short-lived engagement before going their separate ways, with J-Lo calling it her “first big heartbreak.” Some gossip sites state that the two have remained friends over the years and there’s nothing romantic going on, but we can’t help wanting to believe the whole “you never forget your first love” story for these two.

Someone should make a movie out of it.

6. Rihanna & A$AP Rocky

I have been thinking about these two A LOT ever since A$AP Rocky’s gushing words about Queen Rih in his GQ interview. “[Relationships are] so much better when you got the One. She amounts to probably, like, a million of the other ones. I think when you know, you know. She’s the One.”

The former ladies man went as far as to say he’s comfortable embracing monogamy, calling Rihanna the “love of his life” and even discussing fatherhood. While Rih herself hasn’t said much, we’re just going to bask in the glow of their love for as long as they’ll let us.
