YAASS: Vanessa Sunshine Said She’s Open To ‘Bachelor In Paradise’ Or ‘Bachelorette’
Thursday the 30th of August 2018 will always be remembered as the day Australia mourned the loss of Vanessa Sunshine.
Well, on our TV screens that is.
Last night the Honey Badger said goodbye to Vanessa on The Bachelor and things just won’t be the same tbh.
Punkee spoke to Vanessa after her elimination and got all the tea on her first impressions of Nick, that seemingly savage goodbye and whether she’d ever grace our screens again.
On her elimination:
“I literally am standing there like a mute, and that’s not what happened! I was very calm, I said my goodbyes to Nick and I said I hope he finds what he’s looking for. I went and hugged all the girls except for Romy… I didn’t hug her, I walked off.”
On the ‘Mean Girls’:
“I’m not stupid! I might be quiet, but I’m very observant and I knew these things were going on behind my back. I knew Romy was saying these things and slandering me all the time, so for me, it’s like… I’m not going to give you the time of the day.”
On her first impressions of Nick:
“I had NO idea who he was. You know, we don’t have our phones or the internet [in the house] so I couldn’t Google or YouTube him. So I honestly didn’t realise when I was in there that that was his trademark look. Also, I’m of an Asian-European mix, Dasha is Russian, Tenille is Greek, Brooke is an Aboriginal-Malaysian-white mix… I thought ‘maybe there’s going to be an ethnic Bachelor, I’m into this!’ And then I rock up and it was like the most Aussie guy you could EVER put in front of me, who you need a translator to understand.
I get it [Nick’s appeal] now, I just had no idea people knew him for that and that people mimic his look, but at the time I honestly had no clue. I was legitimately thinking it was a dude who needed a little shave and a haircut.”
On her solo time with Nick:
“We were two strangers, kind of getting to know each other and it wasn’t a thought-provoking, riveting conversation. It was just as bad as guys sliding into my DMs being like ‘hey, what’s up’ with a peace sign emoji. So I shut down his dad jokes and he didn’t quite know what to do with himself. It was awkward at the start but I didn’t think it was a bad thing, it’s all just part of dating!”
On the TV portrayal of the other girls:
“Most of them are being portrayed accurately, but Cass doesn’t deserve what she’s getting at the moment. She’s such a sweet girl. I think it was smart of her to keep things to herself, and it must’ve been really shitty for her in that position. And it is mutual feelings [for Cass and Nick], it’s not just one-sided.
“But unfortunately, she wasn’t getting that reassurance that she was probably hoping for. She doesn’t deserve to be made to feel like it’s wrong of her to put herself out there.”
On who she thinks will win:
“Brittany, Brooke or Sophie.”
And on whether we’d see her on another reality show, like Bachelor In Paradise or The Bachelorette:
“I’m open to whatever opportunities are going to come my way.”
