Throwback To All The iPhone Apps We Were Obsessed With For Approximately One Week

We have a soft spot in our hearts for nostalgic games.

From Nintendogs to Singstar, we’ll never let go of the fond memories we hold of nostalgic console games. But whatever happened to all those games we used to play on our first iPhones? I’m talking about the apps we all downloaded, because they seemed so cool and so fun at the time, only to subsequently delete them a week later. I think it’s time to give them a shoutout.

Let’s take a trip down memory lane and enter a time when our iPhones were about ¼ of the size they currently are.

Face App

Have you ever wondered what you would look like with a different haircut? Or wondered what you would look like at a different age? Face App had all the answers. As a result, there was half a second there when we all downloaded this app, tried on all the filters, uploaded the photos to Facebook, then never opened it again.

Flight Control

When the iPhone 3GS came out, there were only a few apps available for download. Flight Control was one of them.

In this game, users were tasked with having to create landing paths for an increasing number of planes on screen. It was a simple concept, it gave us a lot of good memories, but it was quickly replaced when app developers upped their game. Sorry, Flight Control

iBeer

Before crystal-clear graphics and complex-storyline games hit the Apple app store, we were easily entertained. Yes, for this nostalgic throwback, I’m casting your mind back to the time when we were amused that the iPhone could react to our own hand movements.

There was Lightsaber — the app that depicted a Star Wars lightsaber and made a sound whenever you jolted your arm. There was the lighter app, which depicted a lighter that would go out if you blew onto the screen. But more important than these, there was iBeer. An incredible concept — especially if you weren’t 18 yet and the very concept of alcohol was exciting — iBeer allowed users to pretend their iPhone was a nice, cool alcoholic beverage. Neat!

Pimple Popper

Throwback to when we were all dermatologists! This game was so insanely basic, but it allowed us all to channel our hatred of pimples into something other than our own faces.

Flappy Bird

iPhone Apps

In perhaps the most addictive game on our list, Flappy Bird had us hooked because it was shockingly hard. I don’t think I ever made it past 10 points, not going to lie.

Fruit Ninja

iPhone Apps

Ah, what a throwback! Never has fruit been so satisfying to adolescent individuals.

In this game, users were tasked with slicing fruit as it was thrown in the air before it left the screen. Again, a fairly simple concept with an extremely fun execution. Furthermore, swiping across the iPhone screen definitely gave us all practice for all the future apps to come.

Tap Tap Revenge
iPhone Apps

This  was everyone’s favourite music-based game.

Tap Tap Revenge was the perfect game to play on the bus ride home. That is, until you got sick of all the free songs on it.

Gosh, we miss these iPhone apps.
