Abbie Chatfield Has Called Brittany Hockley Out And We Have Deja Vu
We really thought the whole Abbie Chatfield, Brittany Hockley and Laura Byrne drama was in the past, but it just reappeared in my TikTok feed. Abbie recently chatted to former Married At First Sight contestants Ella Ding and Domenica Calarco on their Sit With Us podcast, and spilled some new tea about Brittany’s behaviour.
ICYMI, Brittany filled in for Jackie ‘O’ Henderson on the Kyle and Jackie O Show last year. Kyle Sandilands made some slut shamey comments about Abbie and her relationship with singer Yung Gravy.
Kyle is known for being a shock jock, so it’s not surprising behaviour (yet he doesn’t seem to be getting much heat), but listeners (and Abbie) were taken aback when Brittany laughed off his remarks. The Bachelor star didn’t call Kyle out and added a bit of commentary, something that rubbed Abbie the wrong way. (Brittany later addressed the situation on Instagram, saying she “wasn’t comfortable” and said “as little as possible” to avoid adding “fire to the situation”.)
Brittany’s bestie Laura jumped in to defend her friend, calling out Abbie’s role as the new FBoy Island host as an example of her “hypocrisy”.
Talking about the entire situation with Dom and Ella, Abbie said she first heard about the controversial interview from Yung Gravy, with whom she’d planned to go on a date while he was in Australia.
“Yung Gravy messaged me and he was like, ‘That was so uncomfortable, I just did the weirdest interview about you, it was really fucking gross’. And then I heard it come out, and then I called her out, and she didn’t even really apologise. She did a quote unquote, public apology, that didn’t really say anything,” Abbie said.

One of Abbie’s big issues with the whole situation was the fact that she had reached out privately to Brittany before taking the issue public. And, at the very end of Brittany’s Instagram apology, the reality TV star said she had now “reached out” to Abbie.
But here’s where the drama starts to get even messier: during Abbie’s chat with Dom and Ella, it seems as if Brittany never reached out to her at all. Or did something get ~lost~ in the mail?
“[She] claimed she had apologised to me privately, which she had not. So she lied, and she still hasn’t [apologised]. And then Laura decided to come for me about the FBoy Island launch even though they hadn’t understood the show,” Abbie said.
It’s been six months since this drama first took off, and it doesn’t look like it’s ending anytime soon. Can somebody please stage an intervention?
