John Corbett Lying About Being In The ‘Sex And The City’ Reboot Lives In My Head Rent-Free
Sex and the City’s divisive reboot And Just Like That has long come and gone, but the memory of Carrie pissing herself will live on in our memories forever.
After the season ended, fans were left wondering if the series would be back, and whether we will have to suffer another bunch of episodes with the controversial Che Diaz character and without the series’ original star, Kim Cattrall.
Many of these questions have since been answered. The series will return for Season 2, Che will be back, and Kim probably won’t. But there’s one question that still plagues me and I need answers: where the hell was Carrie’s ex Aidan Shaw aka John Corbett?
The actor had confirmed while And Just Like That was filming that he would return. “I’m going to do the show,” Corbett told Page Six, adding that it was a “very exciting” time for him. When asked how many episodes he would be reprising his role of Aidan for, the actor replied, “I think I might be in quite a few.”
Corbett did not appear in a single And Just Like That scene. HBO Max never confirmed that the actor would cameo.
Ummmm.
So was there some big mix-up? Was the actor originally supposed to appear, or were his scenes cut?
Apparently not.
And Just Like That co-writer, Julie Rottenberg, told Deadline that Corbett purposefully lead SATC fans astray. “John Corbett should be writing personal apology notes,” she said. “We didn’t say anything [about Aidan returning].”
Show runner and executive producer, Michael Patrick King, also backed up this sentiment. “[Aidan’s return] is a big storyline that everybody at home wrote that we had never intended, ” he told IndieWire.
Sarah Jessica Parker revealed on Watch What Happens Live that she had spoken to her former costar, who was forced to apologise to her. “He actually reached out very kindly, because he’s nothing if not a gentleman, and apologised for doing that as a joke,” SJP said. “And then I was like, ‘No, no, no, I mean, it’s a free country, first of all, and second of all, I thought it was kind of delightful and fun’,” she concluded.
“It was fun for him to say that,” Parker told host Andy Cohen. Was it, Sarah?
This is simply baffling areas.
There’s a few things that are OK to lie about. When your boss asks if you can work late on a Friday, you say ‘sorry, I’d love to but I’ve got an important appointment I can’t cancel.’ When your boyfriend asks if you’re mad at him when you are, you say ‘I’m fine, don’t worry.’ When your dad asks if his bad joke was funny, you fake a painful smile and say ‘So good! Haha!’
These are little lies that everyone tells. These are not giant lies that will confuse every writer and actor working on a TV show, before sending an entire fandom into a tailspin.
Men sure do make some choices.
The new season of And Just Like That is expected to start filming soon. John Corbett has not confirmed whether he will return to the series, but if he does…
I simply would not believe him.
