When it comes to the best flavour of Arnott’s Shapes, the Savoury variety is often dismissed and disregarded, but we say no more! You could do a lot worse.

I, myself, am guilty of this. When I ranked Arnott’s Shapes a few years back, I placed Savoury at second-last behind Cheese and Bacon. While I still maintain that Cheese and Bacon is truly disgusting — a vile flavour that belongs in the bin, not in anyone’s mouths — I was a little too harsh on ol’ Savoury.

Savoury Shapes are not bad, some might say they’re even good. Sure, they don’t carry the childhood nostalgia of Barbecue, they’re no crowd-pleasers like Pizza, and they don’t have the cult appeal of Chicken Crimpy, but they do offer the Shapes experience without the strong flavour. And guess what? That can be a good thing.

Here are a few reasons why Arnott’s Savoury Shapes are actually good:

1. Savoury tastes better than you remember.

Critics might say that Savoury is too plain — after all, the only seasoning is salt. But I would present to you: plain chips. Salt is a flavour, in fact it can be a much more palatable flavour to some people than the comparatively overpowering Chicken Crimpy.

Savoury Shapes taste good! Due to the flavour, you can easily snack on an entire box in one sitting.

2. Savoury are perfect for dipping.

Who says that you can’t dip a Shape?? Not me! Live your best life, and dip away bb! I recommend dipping French Onion dip if you want to transported back to your first boy-girl party in Year 8.

3. Savoury come in different shapes… fun!

Unlike every other Shapes flavour, Savoury offer four different shapes in one single box. Geometry! Fuck yeah! We’ve got hexagons, triangles, err two other shapes — the gang’s all here!

Different shapes in one box means that you have totally surfaces to serve different needs. Looking for a large surface to sandwich in a square of cheese? Hexagon has you covered. How about something pointy to reach the corners of a dip container? Triangles are RIGHT THERE.

OK, I don’t honestly know what to do with the other shapes but please experiment and get back to me!

4. They sit comfortably on a charcuterie board.

Unlike every other types of Shapes, which either belong with the chips, or the other crackers, Savoury Shapes can easily be thrown on a charcuterie board. Never tried it? You ain’t living!

Are you even Australian if you haven’t sandwiched a piece of kabana/cabanossi in between two shapes? It’s the best!

I implore you to buy yourself a box of Savoury badbois on your next trip to the supermarket — you won’t be disappointed.
