Vanessa Sunshine was a breath of fresh air when she first graced our screens in 2018 for the Honey Badger’s season of The Bachelor. Not only was she one of the only girls not to immediately fawn over Badgey Boi, she had absolutely zero fucks to give about the drama in the house, even when some of the girls came for her.

When she exited the series, she dropped a blistering rant about her time on the show and talked about not adhering to the typical narrative of pretending to be sad after being dumped. “My approach was a wild card, you’re used to watching women automatically fall for the Bachelor and scramble to profess their feelings, vying to be the last one standing to claim their prize,” she said at the time.

Vanessa returned to our screens for last year’s Bachelor In Paradise but once again her time on the show was short-lived but memorable.

Before Covid-19 hit, Vanessa visited the Punkee office to spill on all things Bachy related, and the tea was piping hot.

While people have alluded in the past that Bachelor In Paradise alliances are formed before people go on the show, Vanessa straight-out confirmed it, saying Bill and Davey both sent her messages.

“A lot of alliances are made beforehand,” she said. “That’s kind of the problem with it and part of the reason I got the shits. Bill messaged me before he was on the show, I didn’t know he was a contestant, it was something stupid like an emoji and I didn’t respond.”

Vanessa also said other cast members calling out production and editing of the show is an “absolute fucking cop-out.” “If you don’t know who you really are, it can be really confronting to see yourself on TV like that and have an entire nation commenting on it,” she said.

And Vanessa was 100% not surprised at that infamous finale with the Honey Badger.

“I already knew, from my personal perspective and from the chats I had with him, I was like ‘this guy does not know what the fuck he wants in a woman’, I didn’t feel he was ready to commit.”

When asked about her favourite series and contestants from past Bachy seasons, Vanessa once again dropped the mic.

“I’m sure all of the Bachelorettes are lovely but I’m a bit over it being a white, blonde woman.”
