We were all a little stunned when it was announced Locky Gilbert of Australian Survivor fame would be the next Bachelor, but not because he doesn’t fit the tall, dark, and handsome profile: many fans thought he was dating Brooke Jowett, also of Survivor fame.

The two were close allies in the current Australian Survivor: All Stars series and even spoke about their romantic connection earlier this year, leading many people to believe they were a couple.

In Locky’s interviews yesterday, the new Bachy said Brooke was an amazing girl but “the thing is, it [Survivor] was filmed five months ago,” making it sound like the two had both decided it wasn’t going to work out.

Brooke has now shared her side of the story, and it’s pretty juicy:

“Yes I’m hurt and a little blindsided (excuse the pun),” she captioned the post on Instagram. “I guess we had different things planned in our heads for what was to come over the next few months but you can’t be mad at someone for doing what they feel is best for them, even if it does sting a little.”

The real kicker though? It seemed as though the two may have had a trip to Bali planned soon, with Brooke ending her post saying “I guess I’m going solo to Bali now.” Whooooooa.

My side of our story. Yes, I’m hurt and a little blindsided (excuse the pun) but I wish the best for Locky, I always will 💕 (Secretly I hope he stacks it and splits his pants on day one) Haha.⁣ ⁣ I guess we had different things planned in our heads for what was to come over the next few months but you can’t be mad at someone for doing what they feel is best for them, even if it does sting a little. ⁣ ⁣ In no way am I or is my Survivor experience defined by Locky or any other man. I was never hiding in his shadow in the game and I won’t be hiding in his shadow now. But I will always cherish those times we shared, it was an amazing life experience.⁣ ⁣ Thank you all for your supportive messages ❤ I know I have bigger and better things in store (maybe not bigger actually, Locky is pretty bloody big) but definitely better. ⁣ ⁣ I hope he finds what he’s looking for🌹 ⁣ ⁣ P.S It looks like I’m now going solo to Bali next month. Any takers? #survivorau #survivor2020

After stating her Survivor experience was never defined by Locky or any other man, Brooke said she knew she’d have bigger and better things in store for her and that she hoped Locky would find what he’s looking for.

All in all, it was a pretty gracious response in regards to the biggest blindside from this series. I guess we can now rule out Brooke jumping in as an intruder for this year’s Bachy series.
