Yes, Dean Wells From ‘MAFS’ Just Proposed To Aimee from ‘Beauty And The Geek’
In news that instantly dragged me back to a dark place in 2018, one of the most notorious grooms from that year’s season of Married At First Sight is engaged! And make things all the more niche, he put a ring on a contestant from another reality TV show.
Yes, Dean Wells (of MAFS infamy) proposed to Aimee Woolley (of Beauty And The Geek fame) this week.
Before I dive into what was going on with the proposal (because there was a camel present), let me refresh you on who these people are and how they got together in the first place.
So Dean was on one of the biggest seasons of MAFS and was paired with Tracey Jewel. While the two seemed to have a fairly productive relationship, their connection crumbled the second Dean had an extra-marital affair with another MAFS bride, Davina Rankin.
Meanwhile, Aimee appeared on Channel 9’s Beauty and the Geek back in 2022. On the show, she teamed up with martial arts expert Jayden Darcy. While the pair didn’t have a romantic connection, they seem to have maintained a cute friendship.
The origin tale of Dean and Aimee goes a little like this: They supposedly met in 2020 before Aimee starred on BATG, but COVID lockdowns kept them apart. They had their first public outing as a pair in September 2022 when they walked the red carpet together at Maxim’s 11th birthday party in Sydney.
Since then they could barely be spotted on each other’s Instagram feeds. In fact, Aimee doesn’t have a single photo of her and Dean on her feed aside from that Maxim party press photo. However, it appears that Aimee has relocated to Sydney for good to move in with Dean.
“She is the sweetest, funniest, craziest and most genuine person I have ever met. We dived in head first and moved in together after just a few weeks and the next natural step was to propose,” Dean recently told Yahoo!
And that’s exactly what he did! He popped the question on Birubi Beach in NSW in front of a camel.

Dean kinda explained to The Wash that the camels held sentimental value, but I’m still very confused about why they needed to be physically present.
“Every year our church in Manly does a camel parade around the Corso and it was one of the first experiences we shared together when she moved to Sydney from Tasmania,” Dean said.
Neither Dean, 45, or Aimee, 24, have shared the proposal pics to their own Instagrams – instead seemingly releasing them to The Wash for coverage first. However, in one video Aimee posted two weeks ago, you can see a sparkly ring on *that* finger, so I’m assuming this happened a lil while back.
Dean has shared statements about his stance on marriage after, you know, getting married to a stranger on national television.
“’MAFS is different for everyone but for me, it was a total stitch-up and left me with a bitter taste about marriage. I was a bit scarred from the experience but when I met Aimee she renewed my faith in real, honest, true love,” he admitted.
Aimee hasn’t spoken about the proposal per se, but she did share a video to her Instagram Story today saying she’ll “answer questions tonight”. Making me think there will be a full proposal AMA or an outing that this was all a big PR stunt and the engagement is bogus.
I hope for my career in journalism it’s the former.
