This year is truly cursed when it comes to celebrity relationships. I’ve lost count of how many Hollywood stars have called it quits in 2023, but there’s one tiny spark that proves love may, in fact, not be dead. 

A sneaky tip to the gossip treasure trove that is Deuxmoi has fans (myself included) convinced that Demi Lovato has indulged in a cheeky secret wedding with their partner, Jordan Lutes – a fellow musician who goes under the pseudonym of Jutes. 

The tip was submitted by somebody under the name of Holy Fvck, which happens to be the name of the album Demi released in 2022. The email address is another clue, with [email protected] clearly referring to Demi’s song ‘Tell Me You Love Me’.

It also appears to have a nod towards Demi’s Disney days, by calling them a “former child star” and referring to their singing career. Intriguing. 

Who is Jutes, Demi Lovato’s rumoured husband?

Jutes and Demi went public in August 2022, after meeting in the studio during a writing session for Holy Fvck. Jutes helped write ‘Substance’, ‘Happy Ending’ and ‘City Of Angels’, and Demi wrote ‘4 Ever 4 Me’ about Jutes.

“He came in to write on one of my sessions and I was in the studio and was immediately attracted to him. I like texted my friends on the side and was like, ‘He’s so hot!’,” they told Howard Stern during an interview on SiriusXM. 

The couple often share soppy posts about each other, with Jutes calling Demi his “best friend” in a birthday tribute recently. “I’m gonna spend the rest of my life protecting you and doing whatever I can to squeeze another smile and belly laugh outta you,” he wrote. 

Demi has also called Jutes their “soulmate” and “perfect human”, which is just adorbs. 

Has Demi Lovato talked about marrying Jutes before?

Demi has made no secret that they’re in it for the long haul with Jutes, and yes! They’ve talked about getting married during a press tour for Revamped. 

“I’m in an amazing relationship. My boyfriend is a year older than me, and we’re growing together, and it feels so healthy,” they told Howard Stern. “We’ve talked about [marriage]. It’s been about a year and a half [of dating], so we’re taking our time with it a little bit, you know? I think it’s important not to rush that.”

The pair “definitely” want children and their relationship sounds a lot healthier than they’ve had in the past. “I can say with confidence that my daddy issues aren’t anything that are inside of me anymore. I think there’s a few signs to that. I’m with a partner that is my age, essentially. I look back on the past [of dating older men] and think ‘that’s gross’,” they said. 

I’m starting to create some theories in my mind, and please take this with a grain of salt because I have absolutely no evidence… but I’m wondering if Demi’s failed engagement with embarrassing ex Max Ehrich (more about that below) was so public, that the singer is trying to keep their relationship milestones with Jutes private? They could be wanting to throw fans off the scent by saying it’s too soon to get married.

Did Demi Lovato and Jutes get together while he was in a relationship?

Demi’s song ‘Bones’ is all about an immediate attraction to somebody, even though they appear to have a girlfriend. I reckon the lyrics speak for themselves: “The second you walked in the room/My leg started to shake/Blood racing, heart pounding/Like there’s a fucking earthquake… So many feelings when you said her name/’Cause I want you so bad that I need restraints.”

Jutes and Demi met while he was in a long-term relationship with Mya Sheffield. Mya and Jutes have since wiped all evidence of their relationship from Instagram, but the last post of the couple was posted on Mya’s Instagram in April 2022. 

We know that Demi and Jutes went public in August 2022, but it’s unclear if there was any overlap. Fans have also popped their detective hats on and it seems Mya debuted another relationship around the same time, so I’m hoping it was a mutual breakup.

Demi Lovato’s messy relationship history. 

Their love life has been a mess for over a decade. If we go way back, you’ll remember when a 17-year-old Demi started dating That 70’s Show’s Wilmer Valderrama, who was 29 at the time. That spawned the emotional song ‘29’ from Holy Fvck… which is probably about Wilmer, but Demi hasn’t confirmed that publicly.

In 2020, Demi moved in with fame-hungry Max Ehrich and swiftly got engaged. It was a whole thing, a big beach proposal, tears, a giant diamond ring, until they dumped him and supposedly kicked him out. After their relationship was over, Max was papped crying on a beach, which allegedly spawned Demi’s single ‘15 Minutes’. 

Glimpses of Demi and Jutes’ relationship have seemed wholesome and real, but there’s part of me that thinks they could have jumped into something serious a little too soon. That’s kinda their pattern, and they never spend too much time alone. 

I’m still holding onto hope that Demi has finally found their forever person, because after dealing with an inappropriate age-gap relationship as a teen, countless ‘Daddy Issues’ and a literal near-death experience they more than deserve a ‘Happy Ending’.
