Farmer Brenton Has Called Out Sophie’s ‘Disrespectful’ Move After Their Breakup

Farmer Wants A Wife is known as one of the more wholesome dating shows out there, with the Seven show’s success rate much higher than say, MAFS. And last season’s love birds Sophie Holcombe and Farmer Brenton seemed to be heading down that wholesome path too, until Sophie surprised us all by announcing their breakup. 

“With a heavy heart, I want to let everyone know Brenton and I have gone our separate ways. Reg and I loved our life in Darriman and have been missing the farm a lot… I wish Brenton all the best,” she said. Brenton told Punkee at the time the pair were “still on good terms” and called Sophie an “amazing person”.

After reading one of Sophie’s newest posts, I started thinking the breakup may not have been as amicable as they’ve claimed. “But just know, I tried my absolute best to build a lifelong relationship. I loved him and I was deeply hurt by the situation,” she wrote. 

The exes traded some messy back-and-forth Instagram stories, including Brenton’s claim he had “dodged bullets” after their breakup. To try and get some more info about their split, I reached out to both Sophie and Brenton to hear what really went down. 

Sophie kept her comment straight and narrow, saying that while Brenton’s “dodging bullet” Instagram story was about her, she didn’t want to “get into it”. She said she was “proud” of all the statements she’d released, and was planning on moving forward in a positive way.

Brenton found Sophie’s behaviour “disrespectful”. 

But here’s where it gets interesting: according to Brenton, the couple had decided not to address their split publicly. Oh, and he believes Sophie started “seeing someone” just two weeks after their breakup. 

“At the time of the mutual separation, we decided the best for us both was to remain silent to the public and let it play out as it goes, just letting friends and family know. As hard as breakups are, everything was going as smoothly as it could, Sophie stayed here in the house until she found somewhere else to go which was fine,” he told Punkee.

“About two weeks ago she randomly blocked me on everything which I thought was strange because we had been on such good terms. And she announced the breakup publicly which we agreed we wouldn’t do.”

Brenton also said that due to the small community, there’s been some rumours flying around about Sophie’s love life. If they’re true, it’s juicy stuff. 

“After the whole situation we had come through I thought it was a bit disrespectful to start ‘seeing’ someone a couple of weeks after the split,” he claimed.

Eek. I’m beginning to think FWAW isn’t the wholesome show it once was…
