An Ex ‘Farmer Wants A Wife’ Contestant Has Gone Rogue & The Tea Is Scalding
In the aftermath of Farmer Wants A Wife being rocked by a pregnancy revelation, a contestant from last year’s season, Liz Jelley, has shed some light on what went down behind the scenes on the reality show.
Liz dated Farmer Nick on the 2020 season and while Nick chose her in the finale, their romance was short-lived. Liz has not been shy about sharing her experiences filming the show, describing being on Farmer Wants A Wife to Kidspot last year as a “horrendous experience.”
In response to the new season that just came to an end, Liz gave an interview to the So Dramatic! podcast to speak further about what actually went down on her season, along with what she’s heard from Farmer Will, his winner Jaimee, and Farmer Matt’s ex Hayley, who has recently revealed she was pregnant with Will’s baby.
Here are some highlights from Liz Jelley’s So Dramatic! interview about Farmer Wants A Wife.
On what she really thinks of the show:
“It’s the fakest of all the [reality] shows. That’s what really annoys me, stop saying it’s real love, it’s not — they don’t give a shit whether we’re together or not, in fact they had a hand in the breakup with my farmer. They instigated our breakup.”
On what actually happened on her season:
“My journey on the show was very different to what happened in real life. Basically, he [Farmer Nick] chose me and then I ended the relationship with him very quickly afterwards. I was just like, nah, he was just a gaslighter! I saw the writing on the wall a long way out and just dropped him about two weeks afterwards.
“Then when they had us film out breakup, with me saying ‘We’re over,’ they then put it to air and had him saying he dumped me — and they cut everything else out. I was sitting at home texting him, like ‘You piece of shit!’ and he was like, ‘I’m sorry, they made me do it!’,” Liz claimed.
“That’s happened again this series, girls who have been ‘dumped’ on the show have then been straight into my inbox saying, ‘That’s not what happened at all!’ I totally get it.”
Liz went on to allege that the reality series is skewed to the men on the show look good. “The guys can not be dumped. The guys must win, they must be on top,” she continued. “It’s so misogynistic. And I mean, just look at the show altogether: it’s male farmers, they’re all straight, they’re all white, the whole show is so backwards. We’re all made to cheer when the men come in. We’re normal women, we don’t squeal when men walk in the room! We’re grown, adult women. We had to film it over and over because we didn’t squeal enough.”
On Hayley’s side of the story:
“What I’m gathering from the little chats I’ve had with her [Hayley],” she began. “He obviously lied about being with Jaimee at the time, he was still with Jaimee and he lied and told her that he wasn’t. And she thought that, you know, this was it — she had actually found someone. I just feel terrible for her.”
On speaking to Jaimee following the controversy:
“I’ve spoken to Jaimee a lot. She just seems like someone who went on the show quite authentically to find love and then she gets stuck with that dickhead.”
On Farmer Will sliding into her DM’s before the 2021 season aired:
“She [Hayley] is an absolute sweetheart and Will just needs to get in the bin — he is trash. I really do not like him. He DM’d me, he’s DM’d everyone. He DM’d me at the end of January…We just had a little chat and then he followed me on Insta.
“The last thing he sent me was like, I had made a joke that all I wanted was a farmer with a horse or wine and I chose the wrong one — as my farmer had wine. And he wrote back going, ‘You chose the wrong season, I have horses and wine.’ I didn’t reply, because I’ve got a boyfriend and surely anyone who has looked at my Instagram can see that. I just didn’t reply, like no, yuck! Shortly afterwards, he unfollowed me. He’s known for doing this [with other girls],” Liz claimed.
On Farmer Will making a statement claiming that Hayley’s baby might not be his:
“I hope he realises that the internet is forever and one day his child will see that and see the insinuation that he’s making about the mother of his child. And that’s just really heartbreaking. She’s a young woman. Will, what are you doing mate? Protect this woman, don’t be doing this!” she said. “Let’s be very fair here, the person who was sleeping around was Will. How did Will think this would never come out?”

“Once everything is confirmed, I hope he makes a really big public apology to Hayley. I really feel for Hayley, I feel for all of them. I feel for Jaimee, I feel for every girl on that show.”
