Everything We Know About Kim Cattrall’s ‘And Just Like That’ Cameo
Calling all Sex and The City fans, this is not a drill: Kim Cattrall is stepping back into Samantha Jones’ stilettos for Season 2 of And Just Like That.
According to a Variety scoop, the star will make her appearance in the finale. While her part is rumoured to be just one scene in the SATC spin-off, we’ll take that as a win.
Honestly, we never thought this day would come.
Cattrall made it crystal clear in several interviews over the years that she wasn’t interested in playing Samantha anymore. The actress’ relationship with the SATC cast (especially Sarah Jessica Parker) and showrunner has long been rocky, as years of rumoured feuding led to her not signing on for the revival.

There aren’t any clues about Samantha’s return in the trailer, but we have some goss for you below.
Everything we know about Kim Cattrall’s cameo in Season 2 of And Just Like That:
All the details we know about Kim Cattrall’s scene:
Apparently, the character is introduced back to the franchise in a simple way. Variety reports that Samantha, who now lives in London in the SATC universe, speaks to Carrie over the phone.
SATC costume designer Patricia Field has also helped Cattrall get back into character as the outspoken publicist, dressing the star for her brief appearance.
I know I’m getting ahead of myself, but does this mean we could see more of Samantha in Season 3? The publication claims it’s a one-off, but things can change, and a girl can dream.
It’s possible writers purposely put Cattrall in a scene where she didn’t have to interact with Sarah Jessica Parker other actors. I’m just guessing, but while this decision could have been due to scheduling conflicts, perhaps she wasn’t ready to work directly with Parker, with their frosty relationship being well documented.
How Kim Cattrall was convinced to reprise her Sex and the City role:
During Season 1, the door was left open for Cattrall’s return. Both Carrie and Miranda, played by Cynthia Nixon, talked about missing Samantha since she had moved to London.
The showrunner Michael Patrick King told Entertainment Weekly at the time that the show wasn’t teasing Samantha’s return. “It’s Carrie and Miranda talking about their friendship, and how strange it is that they’re not together forever. It’s not a tease saying Kim Cattrall [is] coming back,” he said.
“The audience believed those friendships were forever, and so did the main characters. We’re trying to mirror that feeling, but it’s not an invite. It’s a story point.”
However, a source told Variety that when Season 2 of And Just Like That started filming, the chairman CEO of HBO and Max content decided to take a risk. Casey Bloys asked Cattrall if she would be interested in reprising her iconic role, and convinced her to join the cast. Cue excited screaming.
Season 2 of And Just Like That premieres on June 22 on Binge, but Cattrall’s scene will air in August.
