When Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker first became a couple, with numerous articles written about their excessive PDA, I stated to my colleagues I was obsessed with them. “Travis is hot,” I said to my coworkers, with pretty much all of them disagreeing with me.

The rise of the “tattooed boyfriend and hot girlfriend” isn’t necessarily a new concept, even if it has exploded in popularity again in the last couple of years with couples like Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox, Kourt and Travis, and now Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson. But there was something about Travis and Kourtney that captivated me a little more than MGK and Megan happily declaring that they’re ‘twin flames’ and habitually drink each other’s blood.

Kourtney, who lived out her tumultuous relationship with Scott Disick in front of all our eyes on Keeping Up With The Kardashians, actually seems genuinely happy. And if you’ve caught any of KUWTK, you’d know that her relationship with Scott was very up and down, to say the least.

In the last seasons of KUWTK it was also abundantly apparent that Kourtney didn’t want to be there anymore, getting into a physical altercation with Kim, being vocal about not wanting to be in front of the cameras, and often looking disinterested or upset when being filmed.

When it was made public that Kourtney and Travis were an item, there was a very obvious change: Kourtney, often ready with a scathing remark and not previously known for displaying any affectionate behaviour, looked incredibly happy, loved-up, and well, horny.

It was the kind of glow-up we love to see for our friends after they’ve come out of a bad breakup. Kourtney was embodying Hot Girl Summer energy, with a new look, a new glow, and a new man she couldn’t keep her hands off.

Sure, the PDA could sometimes be a bit much, as the new series The Kardashians shows. Kourtney and Travis are so loved-up they barely come up for air and let’s not forget the scene in episode two where they’re going house hunting, and take a break for Kourtney to straddle Travis on the lounge in front of the realtor.

Many viewers of the show were quick to tweet that the two should “get a room” to which I say: I am all for more horny, loved-up couples on TV shows. It gives us sad singles hope!

Don’t hate on a girl who knows what she deserves

One of the most iconic parts of the first episode of The Kardashians was Kourtney addressing her newfound happiness, finally basking in the fact she knows exactly what she deserves.

Anyone who’s gone through a toxic breakup and came out on the other side can get behind this motto. Kourtney’s put in the work: she’s coparented respectfully with Scott regardless of the trauma he’s put her through, she’s a good mum, she got the break she needed from filming a show 24/7 that she no longer wanted to be part of. It’s time to celebrate the happier, hornier Kourtney we’re seeing on our screens.

And if you didn’t feel somewhat touched by Kourtney recounting the story of how she and Travis went from good friends to lovers, then you have an ice-cold heart.

We stan a respectful king

Moving onto Travis, he’s basically the polar opposite of Scott Disick. He’s gentle, softly spoken, affectionate, and clearly adores Kourtney and her kids. The scene where he’s drumming with Penelope while Kourtney watches on laughing warmed my dead heart.

In the latest episodes of The Kardashians, we learned that not only did Travis ask Kris for Kourtney’s hand in marriage, he also visited her dad’s grave to have a little chat to the late Robert Kardashian about his love for Kourtney.

Later on, he sent his proposal speech to Kris, making her (and me tbh) tear up all over again with his words about how much he loves Kourtney.

So yes, I stand by my original point: Travis Barker is HOT! Kindness in a man is hot!

While they seemed like an unlikely couple at first, their love story has truly been a wild and wondrous journey to watch, from the horniness, to the (practice) Vegas nuptials, to the very sweet and tender moments.
