8 Logies Looks That Transport You Straight Back To The Early ’00s
The 2023 TV Week Logie awards are almost upon us, and while I’m semi-interested in seeing who takes away the coveted Gold Logie, the fashun on the red carpet is where my true interest lies.
Since the ’90s has now come back in a big way (I’m looking at you, Olivia Rodrigo), will we see some minimalistic slip dresses and more relaxed looks? Or, is the sheer-dress era here to stay, and slay? Either way, as long as we don’t get back into the whole wearing dresses-over-jeans trend, I’ll be happy.
While we wait for the red carpet day to come around, let’s take a look back at the most nostalgic TV WEEK Logie looks. From Destiny’s Child’s random appearance, to Osher’s frosted tips (or Andrew G, as he was known back then), here are some of the classic red carpet looks I dug up. And yes, we were ALL these people back in the ’00s.
The most iconic Logies red carpet outfits from the early ’00s
1. Hi-5 at the Logies, 2000
Remember when we all felt so ~sophisticated~ when we crimped our hair? There’s so much to unpack here, from the bright purple shirt to the thin braids, and I love it all. I’m 99% sure I had a dress that looked exactly like Kellie Hoggart’s skirt.
2. Destiny’s Child at the Logies, 2002
OK, first of all, I was SHOOK to discover that Destiny’s Child attended The Logies. And their coordinated black outfit has totally transported me back to the early ’00s, while allowing each member to show off their individual style. And, since fashion goes in cycles, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Beyonce’s dress back on the red carpet this year, since celebs seem to be a big fan of see-through dresses atm.
3. Survivor’s Katie Gold and Naomi Knight at the Logies, 2002
When I was about 12, there was this girl that I met at a birthday party. She was wearing just a bandana for a top, and I thought she was the coolest, most fashionable person I’d ever met. I still can’t believe Katie Gold only wore Survivor buffs to The Logies, what a queen.
4. Big Brother’s Reggie Bird at the Logies, 2004
Reggie Bird is truly a reality TV icon, and I’m going to unofficially declare her as the Aussie people’s princess. She’s won Big Brother twice, won our hearts, and this lace detailing on her classic ’00s number looks incred. Though, I’m praying the ’90s eyebrows never make a comeback.
5. Osher Günsberg (then Andrew G) at the Logies, 2004
The frosted tips! The necklace! The skeleton-wing print shirt! Osher’s looks never, ever, disappoint. Can we bring this back pls, it’s so iconic.
6. Osher Günsberg (then Andrew G) at the Logies, 2006
I had to include a second one of Osher’s looks, because, look at this guy. He’s oozing rizz and Hollywood glamour. I don’t think he’d rock up in something like this these days, but pink is defs his colour.
7. Outback Jack’s Natalie Franzman at the Logies, 2005
Wait, does anybody remember Outback Jack? The US reality show was all about the underwear model Vadim Dale, who 12 women were trying to win over. The twist? It wasn’t a glamorous The Bachelor-styled show, instead, the contestants were shocked when producers dropped them in the outback. Natalie and Vadim are still together today, and live in Louisville, Kentucky. Anyway, back to the fashion… I’m not sure what this fabric is called, but I do know that it was all the rage for school formals back in the day.
8. Model Annalise Brakensiek at the Logies, 2004
This handkerchief-styled trim takes me back to my high school days. It was so popular, and I wore my lil Supre skirt (that kinda looked like rags, ngl) with pride.
When will the TV WEEK Logie Awards take place?
The TV WEEK Logie Awards aren’t in the Gold Coast this year. For the first time in yonks, they’ll be taking place at The Star Sydney, on Sunday, July 30. We’ve rounded up everything you need to know here, including who the Logies nominees are, how you can vote, and more.
