In the midst of The Bachelor having another c*nt saga (Straya, right!), and Farmer Wants A Wife being rocked by a pregnancy scandal, Netflix went and dropped three new Love Is Blind episodes and they are actually jam-packed with drama.

Love Is BlindAfter the Altar brought back some of the most memorable contestants, along with the three couples who (sort of) went the distance: Lauren and Cameron, Amber and Barnett, and Giannina and Damian. The latter are not currently together, but have dated on and off in the two years since the series wrapped after Damian rejected Gigi at the altar.

The three-episode anniversary special saw the return of Carlton, Diamond, LC, and season villain Jessica, who didn’t win many fans on Season 1 when she went after Barnett even after he proposed to Amber — all while being engaged to Mark. In a hilarious moment on last year’s reunion, Amber labelled Jessica a ‘sheisty bitch’ so viewers were keen to see if the two could find a way to now get along…or more accurately, to watch round two play out.

In honour of Lauren, Cameron, Amber and Barnett’s wedding anniversaries, the whole gang threw a huge party with all the pod squad invited…and Francesca from Too Hot To Handle! But more on that later.

If you missed the episodes or just want to relive the mess, these are the highlights.

The 10 most chaotic moments from Netflix’s Love Is Blind: After the Altar.

1. Carlton returned just to get into a fight with Lauren and storm out.

Carlton still harbours loads of resentment towards Diamond, the rest of cast, and the viewers for how they reacted to his marriage falling apart, after he revealed to Diamond that he identifies as bisexual. Lauren met with Carlton at a restaurant to try to get him to reconcile with the rest of the Love Is Blind contestants, but he was too fired up and ended up taking his frustrations on Lauren and her relationship with Cameron, before storming off in a huff.

Carlton decided not to attend the anniversary party.

2. Lauren and Cameron spoke openly about when to start having kids.

Lauren and Cameron discussed with Lauren’s father when they were going to start having kids. While Cameron would be happy to start trying for a family soon, Lauren had hesitations and wants to wait until she’s ready. Lauren’s dad and Cameron supported her decision, it is her body after all, right? Well…

3. Amber and Barnett disagreed over when to start having kids.

Wrong! According to Barnett’s mother, as Barnett is the husband and “breadwinner”, he can decide when Amber has a child. She actually told Amber that “the men are to be the head of the house, that’s the way it is in the bible.”

This is despite Amber revealing she was recently diagnosed with epilepsy, which has made her rethink putting off pregnancy due to possible physical limitations that could affect her in the coming years. Barnett was nowhere to be seen, but we learnt at the start of the special that he has reservations around starting a family due to Amber and himself still living with Amber’s roommate.

4. Diamond started dating again — but it didn’t work out.

Diamond began the reunion special by striking up a romance with new guy Rumeal, who she then invited to the anniversary party. However, Rumeal totally ghosted her at the party, just walking out without an explanation — leaving Diamond in tears and wondering what she did wrong. It was tough to watch because Diamond deserves the goddamn world.

5. Damian brought Francesca (from Too Hot Too Handle??) to the reunion…for some reason.

In the most baffling twist of the whole reunion special, Damian somehow knows Francesca, who he had been photographed holding hands with after the series aired — which was one of the reasons himself and Giannina broke up. Damian and Francesca went out for drinks, where Damian invited her to the party, under the guise they were just friends.

But like, why? Francesca isn’t in the cast so it didn’t make any sense and was obviously just to stir up drama and make Giannina jealous. This did indeed happen: at the party Gigi pulled Francesca aside to tell her “If you ever did try anything, you’re messing with the wrong bitch! He’s mine!” It was very dramatic, but her anger was very misdirected!

6. Mark was a no show — but that didn’t stop people talking about him.

The unexpected MVP of the reunion was LC, who tbh, I don’t even remember from the original season. She shared that she had dated Mark after Jessica, but found out that he wasn’t just dating another woman at the same time — the other woman was pregnant with his child.

LC and Jessica bonded over their mutual distrust of Mark over lunch with Diamond and Giannina and we were ready for a showdown at the party, but alas, Mark did not appear in the reunion in any capacity.

7. Amber was on Mark’s side and went up against Diamond and LC.

The reunion came through with some unexpected drama when Amber had the audacity to tell LC that she should act like an adult and just get over what Mark did to her. This was laughable considering that Amber still can’t get over the fact Jessica had like two conversations with Barnett two years ago.

In a conversation between Amber, LC, and Diamond, Amber completely dismissed LC’s feelings, saying that Mark was technically single. She seemed to rationalise Mark’s actions down to him not having a ring on his finger (like Amber), which means he can do whatever he wanted. LC told Amber that Mark agreed to only see her exclusively, as she told him she didn’t want to catch COVID by dating multiple people — a very real and legitimate concern. It all blew up as Diamond defended LC, ending in Amber and Diamond screaming in each other’s faces.

8. Amber and Barnett rejected Jessica’s anniversary present.

In the first episode, Amber referred to Jessica as Voldemort, so it was clear from the outset that she was not remotely interested in mending any bridges between the two, instead wanting to pretend her pod nemesis didn’t exist. On the flip-side, Jessica is now happily dating someone new, has moved on and seems to not just be thriving, but be in a much better place than she was in 2020.

Jessica brought an anniversary gift to give Amber and Barnett at the party, which the couple just straight-up refused to accept. Instead Barnett (yes, an adult man) ran away from Jessica, while Amber told Barnett that she “did not care to enable that.” Jessica was left in tears, while Amber appeared smug. It was all so petty. IT’S BEEN TWO YEARS!

9. Lauren and Cameron are cuter than ever.

The Hamiltons are hands down the best thing to come out of not just this show, but the entire shitshow that was 2020. Cameron getting choked up when giving a speech about Lauren was the most emotion I’ve ever felt for a man that wasn’t delivering me food. Seriously, if Lauren and Cameron ever break up, there’s no hope for any of us.

10. Damian is actually the worst.

It was obvious that Francesca didn’t know what she was walking into when Damian invited her to the party. First of all, she was not dressed for the occasion — wearing a chunky jacket and pants whole everyone else was in formalwear. Then after she had words with Gigi, it looked like Francesca may have realised she was just a pawn in Damian’s game. “I feel like you underplayed it,” Francesca told Damian. “I feel like you should have been more honest with me that you guys are still together.”

Francesca walked out, then Gigi told Damian that she could no longer trust him. By Damian using one beautiful woman to make another beautiful woman jealous, he actually just played himself. As Damian left the party, Gigi said to herself, “He has some serious issues,” and sis, you are correct.
