The 10 Most Chaotic Moments From The ‘Love Is Blind’ Live Reunion

They say any publicity is good publicity, right? Well for the sake of Netflix’s IT team and their jobs, let’s hope that their PR team agrees because Monday morning’s live stream of the Love Is Blind reunion was a shitshow, to say the least.

The *first ever* Netflix live reunion was set to kick off at 10am AEST, but viewers were left twiddling their thumbs for an hour and a half before the stream even got started, and the tech problems just kept coming.

Some lucky ones managed to get in mid-stream, but others were stuck with the dreaded loading ball of death. Frustrated and confused, I repeatedly refreshed my Apple TV, computer screen mirroring and my web-based Netflix until I was magically let in and able to watch the reunion in all of its (slightly delayed) live glory.

And thankfully, the episode has finally been added to Netflix Australia. But if you’re looking for the TL;DR of the reunion, I’ve jotted down 10 of the spiciest moments from the finale.

The most chaotic moments from the Love Is Blind live reunion:

1. Fans were forced to wait 90 minutes for the Live Reunion to start

Reality TV is constantly called out for its editing, and for using said editing to create a narrative around what the producers want viewers to believe. A live Love Is Blind reunion sounded great in theory, as it could offer viewers a more authentic insight into how the cast members interact with one another and give the reality stars the opportunity to blurt something scandalous out (and not have it censored).

However, in reality, the live reunion was… not so great. As mentioned above, those trying to watch received a “There’s an issue with the live stream” message. The message stayed put for a whopping one and a half hours, and to add insult to injury, those patiently waiting to stream the episode had to endure frustrating call-waiting-esque music.

Love Is Blind contestant Marshall tried to lighten the mood with a humorous tweet, as did one of the show’s hosts Vanessa Lachey who poked fun at Tiffany’s LIB sporadic sleeping habits.

2. All the couples who said ‘I do’ at the altar are still together

If, like me, you consider yourself a bit of a reality TV aficionado, then you’ll know that when it comes to a reunion episode, one glance at the couples usually reveals who’s still together. This appeared to be the case for the current season, as there was lots of snuggled-up body language and looks of love between all of the couples who said yes at the altar.

It was later confirmed that all three of the couples who legally tied the knot in the finale — Zack Goytowski and Bliss Poureetezadi, Kwame Appiah and Chelsea Griffin, along with Brett Brown and Tiffany Pennywell — are, in fact, still together.

However, later in the episode, we were thrown a bit of a curve ball when Josh Demas and Jackie Bonds revealed that they are not only still dating, but they now have a house and dog together. Jackie and Josh had a connection in the pods, but she picked Marshall Glaze, only to ditch him on the day she was meant to go wedding dress shopping and confess her interest in Josh.

3. Irina and Micah were let off the hook over mean girl behaviour

One of the most polarising aspects of this season of Love Is Blind was the way that ‘mean girls’ Micah Lussier and Irina Solomonova treated their female co-stars. You can read all about it here, but in a nutshell, Irina and Micah mocked and literally laughed at Amber when Micah’s match dumped her.

They exhibited the same behaviour when Jackie cried on a couch because she was torn between choosing Josh or Marshall.

Their behaviour has been scrutinised and slammed on social media, and they’ve both made public apologies on Instagram but many fans were hoping that they’d really get their comeuppance at the reunion. Things looked promising as hosts Nick and Vanessa played back a bunch of clips of their rotten behaviour. The camera then panned to Micah, who didn’t acknowledge the clips, and then to Irina… who started talking about how happy she was for Bliss and Zack?!!

The women basically got let off the hook as the conversation switched to the happy couple. Thankfully, Bliss shared some scorching hot tea about Irina’s BTS mean girl behaviour, while Zack claimed that she’s a clout chaser. Oop!

4. Zack called his ex Irina out for going on the show for fame

As you probably already know, Zack and Irina got engaged in the pods but things went south quickly and they ended up breaking things off after their honeymoon. Zack then reached out to Bliss, who he’d also connected with in the pods. They went on a successful date, got engaged on a boat a few days later, and then married in a televised wedding just over a fortnight after the proposal. As you do.

When Irina and Zack were together, she was pretty nasty to him. One comment that particularly stands out is when she told him he looked like a “cartoon character” mere seconds after they first saw each other. It was pretty obvious that Irina didn’t mean it in a cutesy Disney prince kinda way either.

It may have taken a year for Zack to get his vengeance, but boy did he call out Irina.

“If we’re real, you went on this show to get famous,” Zack told Irina, who simply responded with a deer-in-headlights look.

He then passively aggressively shamed her, while nobly telling fans to chill out with the hate messages aimed at her.

“Look, I forgive you. I genuinely one hundred percent forgive you. I really don’t have anything against you. I know there are so many people out there that want to attack the cast of the show, and everybody who made a mistake on the show, it has been punishment enough for the whole entire world to see them at their worst.”

“I really believe Irina that you can become an amazing person one day. I believe that and I forgive you for what happened and I hope the world does too.” *Mic drop*

5. Irina sent a shady DM to Bliss after she broke up with Zack

Like a good wifey, Bliss backed her husband up in the ‘let’s shit on Irina’ department by revealing a sketchy text that Irina sent them both straight after she and Zack split.

“You did text me when you landed in Mexico that you dodged a bullet, while you also texted Zack, ‘I’m so sorry, let’s talk, I hope something happens with you and Bliss’.”

This little tidbit implies that Irina knew that Zack was planning on trying to make things work with Bliss, but dissed Zack to her in a hope that he’d get rejected… again.

6. Paul brushed off the fact that he slapped Micah’s bridesmaid on the ass

Look, IMHO, there wasn’t enough time spent on *that* bum slap between Paul and one of Micah’s bridesmaids. In case you missed it, there was a video circulating on social media that saw Paul blatantly give a bridesmaid a casual ass spanking as he walked past. It certainly was… something. However, Paul didn’t seem to think so, as he brushed it off when the hosts played the clip back.

“To imply that it was anything more than me just gesturing acknowledging that I was squeezing past her kind of bumped into her shoulder is literally absurd,” he said. “I literally just [was] walking out of the door and gesturing just like, hey, sorry, I bumped into you.”

7. Zack really came for Micah and claimed she never wanted to marry Paul

While Zack may have been slightly strange throughout, well, all of the LIB episodes, he was undoubtedly the unexpected hero of the reunion. Perhaps he was fed up from waiting for over an hour for the live stream to begin, or maybe he was pissed Irina and Micah weren’t appropriately called out for their mean girl behaviour, we’ll never know.

What we do know is that he didn’t hold back when it came to calling out his co-stars.

This was especially true during the Micah-Paul segment, which was frankly, rather depressing and involved a lot of tears from Micah about getting dumped by Paul… over a year ago. Anyway, Zack basically called out what he believed was a victim narrative that Micah has created for herself, and said, “It looks like you’re here for [Paul’s] blood.”

The fun didn’t stop there either, Zack went on to say that he’d had a “number of conversations” with other women who were part of the live reunion, who said they thought “she was never planning on getting married to Paul.”

Irina (surprise, surprise!) partially owned up to talking smack about Paul and Micah’s relationship, while the other women looked as though they’d rather be at the dentist getting teeth pulled than admit they’d said the same thing.

8. Jackie said Marshall wanted the ring back because he wanted to propose to another LIB contestant

Jackie and Josh decided to skip out on the live reunion which is a bit of a cop-out, but they summed their thoughts up in a short pre-recorded video that, unfortunately, left no room for a showdown. Regardless, Jackie dropped a massive bomb by casually mentioning that when she and Marshall broke up, he wanted the ring back because “he wanted to propose to another castmate.”

While Marshall hesitantly admitted that he went on a date with Kacia in the pods, things didn’t work and he stressed that she wasn’t the reason he asked for the diamond ring. Oh yeah, and we also found out that Josh and Jackie are still together and have a dog. They also have a bizarre way of holding each other while interviewing.

9. Marshall admits to calling Jackie a man

In order to fully understand this one, you’ll need to know about the receipts that were dropped last week, in the form of text messages in which Jackie allegedly called Marshall a homophobic slur.

When host Vanessa asked Jackie if there was a moment where she knew it was over between her and Marshall, she confirmed there was. “It happened off-camera when we were filling out the marriage certificate,” Jackie said.

“He had called me a derogatory name and we fought about it and he left for three days. I think what it was was it was a bad joke. It was one of those where we were joking, but it just came off as bad,” Jackie said.

When Vanessa asked Marshall, who was in the studio, he alluded to the fact that the aforementioned fight was related to Jackie’s judgement of his sensitive personality and owned the comment that he spat out in reply.

“There’s a difference between joking with someone and being able to move on from it if there is a pressure point.” he said, adding that he told Jackie: “You got a strong jawline. I mean, like, you could’ve been a man for all I know.”

10.  Bliss gushed that she wants a baby with Zack soon

Let’s finish off with a sweet one, because who doesn’t like a happy ending? At the end of the marathon live reunion (which was over three hours for those of us who sat through the call waiting, technical issues period), viewers were reminded that Bartisse from Season 3 now has a baby. This, of course, is its own kettle of fish, but we’re staying positive, remember?

Anyway, after finding out Barqueef Bartisse has a child, Vanessa rather nauseatingly asked the remaining couples who would be the first to pop one out. While Brett and Tiffany and Kwame and Chelsea rather expertly dodged the question, Bliss cooed that she hopes to start a family with Zack soon. Which is cute, I guess?
