We just got our first look at Al Perkins on Love Island, and this is the reality TV crossover we’ve all been waiting for!

In case you haven’t been keeping up with the reality TV tea floating around, Married At First Sight’s golden boy Al Perkins will be officially joining Love Island after months of speculation.

Al told 9Now that he believes being on Love Island will lead him to true love. “I do believe Love Island is the right show to find love. There have been successful couples that have come out in love in the past,” he said.

In the freshly dropped teaser, we see Al waltzing into the villa with that adorable smile we know and love. Al will be arriving as a bombshell on next week’s episodes.

Al was first rumoured to be on Love Island after paparazzi snapped pics of him at the Spanish villa, surrounded by other contestants. Fans of the shoey king also noticed that Al wasn’t active on social media for a while, and was absent around the time Love Island was being filmed.

Al’s Married At First Sight ex-bride Samantha Moitzi also responded to the rumours that Perkins was joining Love Island during a Q&A sesh on her Instagram, stating that she was was “not annoyed” that her ex was on another dating show.

However, she did say that she was confused that he was able to go on another show after MAFS due to their contracts allegedly not allowing recent MAFS contestant to join another reality TV show in the same year.

“A little bit confused because we’re actually not allowed to apply for any reality TV shows for over a year of the last episode airing. So that’s quite a long way away… I guess it’s because Love Island is a Channel 9 production,” she said.

Nonetheless, we’re so excited to see Al look for love once again!

During his MAFS journey, he was entertaining and funny — albeit a bit of a man child — but again, it was entertaining, so we’re keen to see how it all plays out in the villa.

Al hopes his fans will be rooting for him for a second time, as he tries another dating show after MAFS. “The people that watched me before saw me fail once at love, hopefully they’ll be rooting for me to find love the second time.”
