Love Island winners-turned-exes, Mitch Hibberd and Tina Provis, have basically rekindled their relationship, and it straight up feels like groundhog day.

To replace the massive hole that Casa Amor left in Love Island fans’ hearts, the show introduced Ex-Week. The explosive, special week saw the return of Mitch and Tina, who met and won last year’s season of Love Island.

To give you a quick TL;DR on their history: the pair did date briefly after winning the show together, but unfortunately, the romance fizzled out. Rumours began to circulate that a week after the breakup, Mitch had hooked up with another castmate from the same season. It was then later confirmed by Tina after she got candid about the rumoured hookup on the It’s A Lot podcast with Abbie Chatfield.

The decision to bring back the previous winners had fans conflicted, but nonetheless, they were entertained. One fan even joked that Mitch and Tina would make up and win the $50k once again.

But, with last night’s episode, it looks like that may become a reality after the pair shared a couple of passionate chats and a bunch of snogs.

To give u a quick rundown of last night’s episode – which basically felt like it was an episode that was ripped out from last year’s season – Mitch and Tina had a one-on-one chat about how they snogged other contestants.

Tina had kissed Callum, and Mitch had kissed the new bombshell, Madeline. Although they previously mentioned that they were there to find love without each other, Mitch confessed that something was “drawing him” back to Tina.

Mitch also confessed that Tina’s kiss with Callum made him upset. “Mine [his kiss with Maddie] was purely a joke,” Mitch said. “It somewhat annoys me you kissed, and it’s annoying seeing you cuddling.”

Tina then called him out, labelling his behaviour as “manipulative”, but Mitch argued that his statement was based on the idea that Callum “wasn’t good enough” for Tina, which she then rebutted with, “Do you think I’m good enough for you?”

Literally, flashbacks to last year.

Tina then confessed to Mitch that she felt like he wasn’t investing emotionally as much as she was in their connection. “I just want some reassurance and investment…Because I could be hurt by him again, and I don’t want to do that to myself, but I just, for some reason can’t help it,” Tina said as she cried in the beach hut.

The next day, Tina and Mitch had a second chat about their relationship, with Mitch admitting that he feels like there’s something between them.

Although the feeling is mutual for Tina, she admitted that she needed Mitch to show more commitment and emotions before jumping into a reconnection. “I need you to fully want me,” Tina said. “Because it’s embarrassing for me to say that ‘I want you’ because of everything that’s happened. I look stupid, Mitch. I just want someone to just want me and it not to be questioned.”

The exes then talked out how things needed to be different from the last time they got together. Eventually, the pair shared a cheeky hug and then a full-on snog…

Tina and Mitch then told their partners, Stella and Callum, that they will be breaking up with them and pursuing each other.

Although it was kinda a sweet moment between the exes, fans aren’t happy that they came back just to hook up:

Just like Mitch and Tina, the whole situation is confusing AF, and lowkey, I kinda agree with the rest of the fans. Take your reconciliation to the outside world… PLEASE.

But as Phoebe H said: ”It is what it is.”

Love Island streams on 9Now and 9Go! from Mondays to Thursdays at 6pm.
