We Ranked The ‘Love Island UK’ Couples Based On Who Actually Deserves To Win
I feel no shame to say that the only thing that has got me through lockdown has been living vicariously through the dating lives of a bunch of sleazy strangers on the other side of the world. Love Island UK, thank you for your service.
After being deprived of a 2020 summer season due to COVID, Love Island couldn’t come any sooner — and its pulled through with the goods. While Season 6’s winter season was possibly its most dull ever, Season 7 has seen a return to form, with drama and romance in equal measure.
There’s been dates, banter, fights, breakups, makeups, people “moving mad” (or is it making “mad moves” IDK) and I’ve lapped up every second of it. The season is nearing the finale, which means it’s time to decide which couple deserves the prize money.
It’s time to rank! Let us know if agree or disagree in the Facebook comments!
We ranked the Love Island UK couples based on who actually deserves to win:
(FYI: Abigail and Matt aren’t included in the ranking, as they’re not currently coupled up or pursuing anyone romantically.)
6. Mary & Dale
Dale is currently coupled up with Abigail, but it’s obvious he only has eyes for Mary. They seem to genuinely like each other but as bombshells who came in during Casa Amor, we haven’t got to know either islander well enough for them to deserve the winner’s title. And they’ve only been romantically linked for, like, five minutes.
(May the record show that I think that Dale is so hot that I want to cry just thinking about him.)
5. Faye & Teddy
If you asked me a few days ago which couple would and should win Love Island, I would have undoubtedly said Faye and Teddy. They went on a real emotional rollercoaster following Casa Amor, as Faye slowly learnt she could trust Teddy and they looked set to be the next couple in the villa to become boyfriend/girlfriend.
Then the movie challenge happened, featuring clips of Faye and Teddy both straying during Casa Amor, leading to ‘Hurricane Faye’ rearing her head, and their whole relationship imploded in one night. Faye didn’t even give Teddy the chance to explain his side, instead screaming over him, shutting him down and tbh, it spoke volumes about how she lacks the emotional maturity to be in a relationship. Faye, I do love you but I think it’s time for you to leave the villa and work on yourself, babe.
If Teddy manages to couple up with someone new before the finale — actual angel Abigail maybe?! — then he has every chance of winning the whole show. I wouldn’t be mad about it.
4. Liberty & Jake
This pains me to rate Liberty so low because she is sunshine personified, but Jake’s actions in Casa Amor encouraging the other guys to cheat weren’t just nasty and thoughtless, some fans reckon he was trying to sabotage the other men’s relationships so that he and Liberty would secure the win. It makes sense. Before Casa Amor, Liam and Millie were the couple to beat, and Jake was weirdly obsessed with encouraging Liam to talk to Lillie, even when Liam said that his head was still with Millie.
I’m sorry, but we can’t reward Jake for this bad behaviour. But if Love Island awarded the win to singles, Liberty would have this in the bag.
3. Kaz & Tyler
I’m assuming these two will recouple at the next ceremony, so it’s a safe bet they will go to the finale. Like Teddy and Faye, both Kaz and Tyler went their separate ways during Casa Amor — Tyler into the arms of Clarisse, while Kaz rematched with Matt after she saw Tyler and Clarisse kissing in a postcard.
However, after bringing Clarisse back into the villa, Tyler ultimately decided his heart was still with Kaz. Shortly after, Matt dumped Kaz, so it looks like these two can finally make a real go of it. I’m rooting for them, Kaz deserves the world, but this doesn’t mean that they should win. After all, during Casa Amor, Tyler practically forgot Kaz ever existed, so clearly their connection ain’t that strong. And sadly, I don’t see them going the distance beyond the villa.
2. Chloe & Toby
I don’t know how on earth these two have ended up back together, but tbh, I’m vibing it! Toby and Chloe were matched early in the season, but Toby dropped Chloe for Abigail, then after Casa Amor, he dropped Abigail for Mary. But once he returned to the villa, Toby realised his heart was with Chloe all along and they recently reconciled. Now THAT is a journey.
I do find them cute together and they have natural chemistry, but do I see them actually lasting on the outside? Absolutely not. Tbh, I bet Toby will hit on his Uber driver on the way to the airport.
1. Millie & Liam
Love Island UK has ran for seven seasons, but it’s rare we actually get a glimpse of true love — and I genuinely think these two are made for each other. Sure, Liam was a little shit in Casa Amor, but he always had Millie on his mind. He kissed Lillie and shared a bed with her, but during Lillie and Millie’s meetup, I reckon Lillie exaggerated Liam’s affections for her. She told Millie that Liam was all over her in bed, yet in Casa Amor, she complained to the other women how he barely touched her. Make it make sense, Lillie!
Whether he was in the wrong or not, since returning to the villa, Liam has made every effort to make amends and Millie has not made it easy. An absolute savage queen. He’s spent nights sleeping outside to give her space, he gave a speech in front of everyone about how much she meant to him, and he’s constantly tried to win her back.
They’ve overcome challenges and in perfect timing, I think they’ll come together before the finale and be stronger than ever. I can see Millie and Liam outlasting all the other couples and following in the sizeable footsteps of Love Island’s most beloved couple: Molly-Mae and Tommy. They’re so cute!
Give them the £50,000 already!
