Dan Returns To The Ocean: ‘MAFS’ Commitment Ceremony Recapped Via Best Tweets

We’re over the halfway mark in this year’s Married at First Sight season and we can safely predict there’s probably only one or two couples that will stay together post-experiment.

Last night’s commitment ceremony saw the experts tackle Dan and Sandy’s issues arising from the infamous butt dial incident where Evelyn overheard Dan talking badly about his misso. It will shock no one to learn both Dan and Sandy opted to leave, and thank goodness. It was absolutely time to set angel Sandy free to go find herself a real catch, while Dan launches himself back into the ocean to become a merman.

In other news, Harrison did his best to insert himself in some other couples’ drama, and he and Bronte gave a Logie-worthy winning performance about how they’re falling for each other. Can someone check on Bronte? Is she OK? Has she become a full Stepford wife? Is there any light behind the eyes there?

Before we get captivated by what the hell is going to go down on this week’s retreat, let’s go through the latest commitment ceremony.

Here’s what happened on last night’s Married at First Sight commitment ceremony recapped via the best tweets.

The couples debrief on the butt dial saga. Bronte and Harrison call bullshit on the butt dial and Bronte is annoyed it’s become the “Evelyn show”.

Claire and Jesse get up and are a completely different couple from the week before.  Jesse says he’s forgiven Claire and that he “likes her the most ever”.

Dan and Sandy step up and Dan apologises to Sandy saying it hurts his heart to know she has a heavy heart. Sandy reveals earlier in the week that Dan said they should take sex off the table because it makes her “too emotional”.

Alessandra grills Dan about why he had sex with Sandy straight after the commitment ceremony after he said he wasn’t attracted to her the night before.

Dan opted to leave by saying “the beach and the ocean is calling me and I really need to go home”.

Bronte and Harrison spill that Bronte met Harrison’s son during their family week. Harrison said he’s fallen for Bronte and Bronte has helped put parts of him back together and Bronte brings out the best in him.

Melinda and Layton have a debrief with the experts about their issues when it comes to not backing down from arguments. Harrison decides to interrupt and tell the two they should own their problems.

Tahnee and Ollie are perfect as usual.

Lyndall and Cam tell the experts what Cam’s mum said about Lyndall’s “insecurities”. Lyndall breaks down on the couch and she and Cam get into an argument about his lack of affection.

Alyssa gets emotional on the couch thinking about the differences in her and Duncan’s lives, and the fact she hasn’t dated before as a single mum. Duncan reassures her that it isn’t an issue for him.

Finally, we get to Hugo and Tayla. Hugo says he likes Tayla but he feels insecure around her because of her behaviour. Tayla said she’s uncomfortable with Hugo making any physical advancements towards her — like a kiss on the cheek. Tayla gets pulled up by the experts on the way she talks about and treats Hugo.

Hugo says he’s terrified of doing the wrong thing by Tayla and upsetting her, and she laughs. Tayla opts to leave, while FOR SOME REASON Hugo says stay. Sir?? U OK??

Married at First Sight is back with Retreat Week tonight from 7:30pm on Channel 9.
