Ghosts Of ‘MAFS’ Past: Reliving One Of The Funniest Scenes From 2019

As we gear up for the 2021 season of Married at First Sight, it’s always fun to look back on the other memorable MAFS seasons and the entertainment they brought with them.

No, we will not reminisce on 2020. That can be left in the past.

Now, we’ve never, ever forgotten about the mark Cyrell Paule left on her season of Married at First Sight. Married to Nic Jovanovic, Cyrell was one of the feistiest brides we’ve seen on the series and was never afraid to stand her ground or speak her truth. From chaotic fights with Martha Kalifatidis, to telling Sam Ball he “ain’t king ding-a-ling”, to being admonished by her mother for “swearing in front of the food”, Cyclone Cyrell’s journey on the show is one for the history books.

While Cyrell and Nic’s relationship was an absolute rollercoaster to watch, they did sometimes have their good times.

And while our friends over in the UK get acquainted with our most chaotic season of MAFS in lockdown, we decided it was time to look back on one of the funniest scenes in 2019’s MAFS season: the time when Cyrell pranked Nic.

The whole thing started when Nic asked Cyrell to cook him a traditional Filipino dinner, while then making her dress up in a maid’s outfit. (Disclaimer: in MAFS, there’s a week where one partner is “in control” and can make decisions for the couple’s week based on that, hence what was happening here.)

Cyrell was less than impressed at being forced into a maid’s outfit while cooking her husband dinner, so decided it was time to sneak in some revenge. When Nic commented that she looked sexy while she was cooking dinner, she uttered the words: “Remember Nic… revenge is best served cold. Every dog gets their day.”

“Nic didn’t ask for proper nice Filo food,” Cyrell told the camera later.

She then decided to make a chicken curry, using chicken feet to feed to Nick, before ending the meal with a goose egg, masking it as a dessert with chocolate on top.

After forcing him to try the chicken feet before revealing it was a prank, Cyrell then set up Nic with his dessert: “orange jelly with whipped cream.” As Nic hesitantly smells the dish, Cyrell tries to maintain a serious face, before accidentally laughing into her wine, sending it everywhere.

Ahh those were the days, when the couples still had some rare fun in amongst all the drama.
