What The ‘MAFS’ Stars Have Posted Since Getting Their Instagrams Back
It’s been a long journey, but the 2023 Married at First Sight cast are soft-launching their Instagram accounts again, finally getting access back as the series wraps up airing in the UK.
It’s not news that networks and TV shows restrict participants from using their own social media accounts from the moment they’re announced as a cast member to the final reunion. It wasn’t always the way, but in a bid to control the narrative and make sure loose lips don’t sink ships, many shows like MAFS and The Bachelor now take hold of contestants’ Instagram accounts until the bitter end.
They approve content that can be posted, comments are also turned off on posts, and the contestants do not have access to their accounts or DMs.
Now it looks like the 2023 cast are slowly returning to Instagram but still in quite a controlled manner — it appears not all of them have full access back yet but we predict that’ll happen by the time the week is out.
For now, the ones that do have their accounts back are soft-launching themselves back into the world via Instagram Stories, turning comments back on, and we can only imagine things will start to heat up in terms of spilling the tea in the following weeks.
Here’s what the MAFS stars have been posting since regaining control of their Instagram accounts.
Melinda
Melinda said she was ready to begin influencing again after taking a nice “break” aka a carefully worded phrase definitely alluding to the MAFS network not giving the social accounts back to the participants in a hurry.
Her first story was about living her best float tank life, and she apologised to fans for the fact she may not be able to get back to the “thousands” of messages she’s received since getting her account back.
Let’s hope the ‘floating my worries away’ isn’t referencing her relationship with Layton…
Tahnee
Tahnee popped up a story saying hi to her followers and saying she missed Instagram, before uploading a very cute pic of her and Ollie… with comments now turned on.
Ollie
For his part, Ollie uploaded a grid post and a story of pap pics taken of him during the experiment, crediting the Daily Mail journo who took them.
Rupert
Rupert uploaded a new series of happy snaps with the caption, ‘Got the blue tick, and that’s what life’s all about hey’. You gotta love a man who can take the piss.
Layton
Layton uploaded a Story of a creative masterpiece he’s working on: a very good sketch of Amy Winehouse. The man has talent!
Caitlin
Caitlin’s just happy to be here. We expect more tea in the coming days/weeks.
Janelle
Janelle was easily one of the most excited to have her account back, uploading a series of Stories telling fans she couldn’t wait to update everyone on her life, her move to Sydney, and posting a Story with Evelyn as well as a Story of the two FaceTiming Duncan.
Lyndall
Lyndall told her fans she’s spent her entire day catching up on her Instagram friends’ lives and has apparently missed a lot in the last few months being off the grid.
She also uploaded a series of grid snaps, one hanging out with Jesse, who has been yet to update his ‘gram.
Bronte
She’s not back yet. Watch this space.
Harrison
Harrison uploaded a series of press pics with his new gal Gina, a couple of happy snaps with his son, and teased there are “big things in the works!” Please God, don’t tell us it’s a podcast.
Hugo, Tayla, Jesse, Claire, Sandy, Dan, Cam, Alyssa, Josh
Nothing new that wasn’t already approved by the MAFS higher powers. Stay tuned.
Melissa
Melissa thanked everyone for following her journey and said she’s thankful that it’s come to an end and that she has an amazing following. “Going forward, my comments are open, and I’ll be doing a lot of [Instagram] Lives,” she said.
Evelyn & Duncan
Given the news of their relationship and the media tour they’ve been on, we’ve seen enough very recent content of them lately, but so far no new Stories since their accounts were given back.
