Ollie Spilled ‘MAFS’ Tea About Tahnee, Alyssa And Rupert In A Reddit AMA

Ollie Skelton and Tahnee Cook were the saving grace of this year’s Married at First Sight.

The Gen Z power couple came through to prove to everyone that you can meet someone on the show, make it work, and not get caught up in all the incessant drama.

While the cast of Married at First Sight don’t get their social media back until the season finishes airing in the UK, there have been a few rogue interviews of late, with Harrison chatting to MAFS alum Dom and Ella, and Alyssa recently revealing to the Daily Telegraph that she was “coincidentally” made redundant post-MAFS.

As we wait for the rest of the cast to start speaking out and/or launching their own podcasts, fan fave Ollie has taken to Reddit to reveal a few juicy secrets in an AMA.

In the thread Ollie opens up about some of the harder times in his relationship with Tahnee, who really copped an unfair edit, and some scenes he wishes made it to air.

From the boys calling out Harrison to who actually got a bad edit on MAFS, here’s what we learned from Ollie’s AMA on Reddit.

On him and Tahnee not being perfect all the time:

Ollie elaborated on a rough patch he and Tahnee hit after the newly introduced couple swap task. We saw during a commitment ceremony that Ollie admitted to feeling some insecurity about the task, but any fallout between Ollie and Tahnee wasn’t actually shown on our screens.

“Our hard times came in the wife swap but they had probably been simmering in the weeks before that. I was angry at the experiment, and I just was super passive with Tahnee and I wanted to go home. I was mentally spent,” Ollie said on Reddit.

“We were exhausted from the show and I guess bickering more than anything? The irony of it is as much as I hated the couple swap and didn’t understand the bloody thing it brought us closer together.”

He also said what he loves most about Tahnee is “her zest for life.” Bless their cotton socks.

On his bestie Rupert and what his actual relationship with Evelyn was like:

“They were real the whole time. I just think for one reason or another they never hit the next gear,” Ollie said.  “Rupert and I call each other every day. Tahnee and Rupert have been my best friends [since] leaving this experiment.”

On the editing of cast members and some of the perceived storylines:

Ollie said he wasn’t that surprised about how some cast members came across on our screens. “20 percent surprised and 80 percent ehhhh saw that one coming,” he wrote.

“How I felt about a situation at the dinner parties or commitment ceremonies is 90 percent correct in how it makes you feel watching it on the telly. Some of these arguments went for half an hour but need to be cut to 10 minutes so you’ll get [a] frankenbite or whatever. I always felt the essence was there but people seem to disagree with that.

In regards to “the other 10 percent” Ollie added that “1. Rupert was only nervous on his wedding day, 2. Claire and Jesse weren’t together at the end of the show, 3. We all knew that was Shannon’s cousin,” Ollie said about some of the misleading storylines.

“There’s more but that’s all that’s at the top of the wozza atm.”

On defending Alyssa:

“I think Alyssa[‘s edit] sucks man. She’s a really beautiful human inside and out, and so is Duncan,” Ollie wrote. “I’m sure she looks back and there’s things she could have done differently, but personally I had nothing but great interactions with them both.”

On a moment he wished made it to air and Tayla being a low-key icon:

“Man, they showed it for half a second but when Tayla put dishwashing liquid in the dishwasher at the retreat and it oozed foam and she originally blamed it on Layton until she couldn’t hold it in anymore,” he said. “I never laughed harder on the show.

I know Tayla isn’t a fave in this community, but by golly she is sooo funny.”

On wishing he called more bad behaviour out:

“I do think there were times when I should have called out behaviour and I’ve got regrets. Mostly towards Buttgate,” he said.

“In the beginning, I struggled to find my voice. Tahnee and I were the youngest on the show and you’ve got all these extroverts that are succesful, good looking, and have all this life XP [experience] on you that you feel like maybe your opinion doesn’t hold the same weight. I felt like that during that time, so yeah I have regrets. However, as the show went on I began to feel increasingly confident in and around the group and I think that starts to come out.”

Ollie did add that there were scenes that didn’t make it to air. “We had a back and forth at the boys night for about half an hour where the cut the whole bloody thing,” he elaborated.

“I always felt comfortable disagreeing with Harry because it never got heated, it was always a bit of a debate. I don’t know why it didn’t get a run, but hey cookie crumbles.”
