16 Memes About Millennials Feeling Old While Listening To Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘SOUR’
If you told me last year that I’d spend the majority of 2021 obsessing over the love life of a teen I didn’t know existed in 2020, then I probably wouldn’t believe you. But that is the power of Olivia Rodrigo and her phenomenal debut album, SOUR.
From her devastating first single ‘drivers license’, Rodrigo has transported listeners to a time that many of us would sooner forget: our teens. Her whole album is a dedication to the emotions that reside after an angsty teenage breakup, and will take you straight back to your first love, or even just your first high school crush, and how intensely all-consuming it felt when it all fell apart. At the time, you thought your heart was actually breaking, but looking back, it’s slightly embarrassing.
For me, it takes me back to crying for days after my MSN boyfriend dumped me out of the blue. Or the time my first crush (who didn’t even know I existed) starting dating the most popular girl in school. Millennials are reliving this early trauma in real time with Rodrigo’s songs, which are painfully relatable but also for anyone over the age of 25, probably make you feel rather ancient.
This specific feeling has inspired loads of memes and we’ve rounded up the best ones.
