Every Osher Günsberg Hairstyle Ranked From ‘Cover Model’ To ‘TV God Of Our Dreams’
Man of our dreams and the unofficial hero of Australia, Osher Günsberg is magnificent for many reasons. But we’re here today to discuss (in great detail and length) his hair.
He’s rocked some pretty diverse hairstyles over the years and honestly, we love them all. But some are clearly better than others, and in the lead-up to his long-overdue potential Gold Logie win, it’s important that we take a moment to appreciate the complexities of each and every one of them.
Run a comb through your hair and tighten your ponytail friends, because we’re ranking all of Osher’s hairstyles during his television career so far.
#6. Ponytail

Osher’s first TV gig was hosting a music show on Channel V back in the late ’90s/early ’00s. For seven years, he played music videos, interviewed artists and threw live music concerts for us with a long, luscious ponytail.
Just look at it. I’m suddenly questioning every decision I ever made that led up to the moment I cut my hair short.

That ponytail could end wars. That ponytail is long enough to whip me in the face and I’d thank it.

#5. Bleached blonde surfer dude hair

If Australian Idol immediately catapulted itself into our hearts, which it did, then Osher’s new short hairdo smashed our hearts into smithereens in the same way that cute dog pictures do.
In a shock move, Osher chopped off his long locks and rocked the sun-bleached surfer look better than anyone. He showed off many variations of this style during his years hosting the talent show, but every one of them kept us coming back week after week (also the singing, I guess, maybe).

#4. Happy New Year to everyone except this haircut

There’s a superstition that whatever you do on New Year’s Eve will influence your next year. So of course Osher hosted a couple of New Year’s Eve live broadcasts.
His hair during the 2008 broadcast is suboptimal. It’s caught in limbo between 10/10 surfer dude and a businessman.

#3. Live to Dance

He’s Australia’s favourite host and television presenter, but in 2010 Osher also landed the top job on a US show. Live to Dance may have been short-lived, but it should be held as a shining example of reality tv just because of Osher and his hair.
The blonde locks are gone and in their place is a fun, everyman cut. It’s the beginnings of the ultra-chic look we know today, and we applaud it for the role it played in this very important saga.

#2. The Bachelor begins
View this post on Instagram
Osher’s most important contribution to Australian culture began in 2013 – The Bachelor Australia premiered and with it, a youthful new look for Osher.
He’d grown his hair out (not to ponytail or surfer lengths, sadly) but kept it neat, a textbook example of the duality of man. This hairstyle wins big points simply for the role that it played in our pop culture, but even more for the fact that it set the standard of Osher being hotter than the actual Bachelors.

#1. Men’s Health cover

Some gifts just keep on giving, and some are so great that they become a permanent fixture in the culture they were gifted to. Osher’s Men’s Health magazine cover is one of those gifts.
In 2018, he went shirtless on the front cover to show off his new ripped bod and (because he’s a treasure) to advocate for mental health issues.

We couldn’t stop looking at it when it hit the stands, and I believe I speak for all of Australia when I say that we were cheering our boy on for his interview in the mag.
But let’s discuss his hair. His hair is the most important part of this entire cover, no questions. Look at that perfectly coiffed hairdo. Look at the perfect 5 o’clock shadow. Look at how it frames his perfect face.
