The Bachelorette’s Angie Kent has taken to social media to drag Channel 10 after the network decided to kick the series to the curb this year.

The bomb was dropped yesterday when Executive Vice President and Chief Content Officer of Paramount Australia and New Zealand, Beverley McGarvey, told TV Tonight that the iconic show will not be making a return in 2022 and hinted that an adaption of US series The Real Love Boat will be taking its place.

Some are speculating that the show was cancelled due to dwindling ratings. The network made small strides towards diversity by casting its first Indigenous and bisexual Bachelorette, Brooke Blurton, in 2021, but her finale only caught the attention of 439,000 viewers. Brooke’s winner’s choice was the worst performing finale in Bachelorette history.

After the axing was announced, former Bachelorette Angie took to Instagram to commemorate the reality show’s run on the network.

Angie displayed her dissatisfaction with the decision in her caption, writing “Sad times that we won’t be seeing quality entertainment from leading ladies for the franchise this year. Just bulk lead pork swords all round.” The former Googlebox star sent off the show with a laugh, as she poked fun at herself in an Instagram Reel jam-packed with iconic moments from her 2019 season.

The reality TV star has previously slammed the latest casting of The Bachelor in an article she wrote for Yahoo Lifestyle, joking that she encouraged viewers to enjoy their “three shades of white”.

Channel 10 recently revealed the three Bachelors this year would be Felix Von Hofe, Jed McIntosh, and Thomas Malucelli. In the same Yahoo piece, Angie wrote, “I mean, cishet white men have been missing out on opportunities since the beginning of time. Said no one ever.”

We absolutely love Angie and really hope The Bachelorette does make a comeback in 2023 but for now, we’ll have to make do with The Bachelor… ahem, we mean The Bachelors.
